Hold on to Hope Inspirational Card

Hold on to Hope Inspirational Card

We all have rough patches in our lives from time to time and need a little hope and inspiration.  All of us have a friend or relative that might need that little seed of hope.  This gorgeous stamp set, Hold on to Hope, is perfect.  You can create beautiful cards for so many occasions, Thinking of You, Easter, Sympathy, Hope, Encouragement, Baptism and so many more.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Hold on to Hope, Stampin' Up!

My color inspiration came from the gorgeous designer series paper Whole Lot of Lovely. Using Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Whisper White and Basic Black really bought out the elegance in this design.  I think everyone should have those Layering Ovals Framelits and Stitched Shapes in their stash.  They are so versatile and for sure some of my go-to design elements.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Hold on to Hope, Stampin' Up!

With the framelits, you can create five different shapes/sizes of crosses.  You can layer them, stamp them or highlight them solo.  I did use the framelit from Petals and More to cut out the sentiment, but if you don’t have that one you could always use just a strip of Whisper White and slant the ends on an angle.  The stamp set has beautiful larger sentiments that you can use on the inside of the card as well.

Did you notice the hint of the designer paper at the bottom of the inside of the card?  I couldn’t bring myself to waste one little piece of that gorgeous paper.  Be sure to add a package or two to your next order.  I’m sure it will probably retire when the new catalog goes live in June.  You won’t want to miss out on these lovely papers.

Would you like to create this one right along with me?  Here you go.

I’ld love to share with you how the magic happens.

Serene Garden Four Panel Card

Serene Garden Four Panel Card

The new Serene Garden bundle was one of the first sets I was drawn to in the new 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.  I knew I wanted to create a fancy fold to really show off as many of the beautiful images as I could.   So, I chose the four-panel fancy fold, one I’ve used in the past and love.  The Serene Garden set is a lovely set for cards of encouragement, sympathy, birthday,  thinking of you and so much more.  You can also create unique layers on your project with stamping, embossing and die cutting.

My color combo of Powder Pink, Shaded Spruce, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White was the starting point.  I knew I wanted a rich green and our new Color Revamp came to the rescue.  In that revamp Stampin’ Up! brought in sixteen new colors to our palette, and that gorgeous Shaded Spruce was one of them. Coastal Cabana is an oldie, but goodie, that was brought back from retirement.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Serene Garden, Four Panel Fancy Fold

In my Serene Garden four-panel fancy fold, each panel depicts it’s own little scene.  On the front panel, I used the Detailed with Love stamp set for the sentiment.  I then cut it out with the Stitched  Shapes Oval Framelit and layered it on top of a scallop oval cut with the Layering Ovals Framelits. The sweet little flower is from Serene Garden.  That one doesn’t have a die, but it was quick and easy to fussy cut.

The second panel was created using the watercolor wash stamp from the Love What You Do set. I stamped off in Coastal Cabana. Next, I stamped the large flower image from Serene Garden. Then  to create some fabulous texture, I ran the panel through the big shot with the new texture die from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  To create some depth, I stamped the flower head on a scrap of Whisper White, colored it with my Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker and cut it with the matching die from Garden Scene  Framelits.  The new Share What You Love Artisan Pearls were the perfect accent.  And did you know that our tried and turn Teeny Tiny Wishes set retired and was replaced with a fabulous new set, Itty Bitty Greetings.  That’s what I used for the sentiment and cut it out with the die from Stitched Labels.

In panels three and four I wanted to bridge the card together in creating a two-panel scene.  The large corner stamp was perfect.  The coloring was done with Stampin’ Write Markers in Shaded Spruce, Coastal Cabana and Mint Macaron.  The flecking in the background was created by tapping the marker in the cap, creating splatter effect.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Serene Garden, Four Panel Fancy Fold

Last, but certainly not least, the fourth panel was creating using a new technique with our Big Shot Embossing Mats and die from Springtime Impressions.  The sandwich for this technique is your Big Shot Platform, one Standard Cutting Pad, the die (cut side up), cardstock, blue embossing mat and the white impression pad.  Run the sandwich through the Big Shot and you get an embossed image versus a cut image.  You can do this with any die making your supplies work double duty and you get more bang for your buck. The little sentiment also comes from Itty Bitty Greetings cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelit and backed with a gorgeous die cut from Stitched Labels.  And of course, the star of the show, the gorgeous bird is from Serene Garden.

I’ve published this video tutorial for you and would love to hear your feedback.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Powder Pink CS – one at 11 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 1/4″, 3 3/4″ and 7 1/4″, flip over and with the 1/4″ scoreline at the top, score at 5/8″ down to the 7 1/4″ scoreline.  Cut off the 5/8″ score. For the card base, slso cut one piece at 4 1/4″ x 2 3/4″.
  • Mats – Shaded Spruce CS – two @ 2 1/2″ x 4″, two @ 3 1/4″ x 4 5/8″ and one @ 4″ x 5 1/4″

Stamps Ink and Paper Voila

Stamps Ink and Paper Voila

WOW Team Card Challenge time!! This month, it’s all about stamps, ink and paper. That’s right #simplestamping. By challenging my team to step outside their typical stamping styles, I think they surprised themselves. Because we got back to basics, I think the entire WOW Team used this to their advantage and rocked this challenge.  Let’s take a closer look to see how you can incorporate the stamps, ink and paper challenge into your card making. First up, we have Tonia Breland Bates.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Isn’t this just brilliant? I love the technique of repetitive stamping. Tonia stepped it up by adding a new color each time. So cute!  She used a retired set, it’s an oldie, but goodies. And I’m sure she stamped and fussy the birthday cake. Next up, Eva Hibbing and another Happy Birthday card.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Using the stamp from the Sale-a-Bration set Thoughtful Blooms, Eva created a fabulous diagonal focus.  I’m lovin’ all the colors and patterns. WOW Team Member, Margaret Savage, used the same set. But look at the different look she achieved.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Her color palette is soft and sophisticated. Because the So Sentimental set, in the mini catalog, has a fabulous array of sentiments, Margaret included one of those for her inside greeting. Let’s see what Molly Downing has in store using only stamps, ink and paper.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Isn’t this fun? Molly’s color choice is right on point. She’s used the Wish For It All set from the Annual Catalog. That set has a gorgeous set of coordinating dies. Certainly, you can see too, that Molly used multi colors on her sentiment. Just fabulous and a great use of color. Next up we have a little fancy fold from Helene Hebert.

WOW, a true star of the show on this card, the Morning Star set. That one too has a set of coordinating dies, the Stiched Stars set. It’s a carry over from the Holiday Catalog. Most noteworthy, you could change the sentiment on this one for a beautiful sympathy card. Let’s change gears to a more masculine theme with Paula-Kay Bourland’s creation.

Because Paula created a lovely watercolor wash backgound she was all ready for this stamps, ink and paper challenge. Her card features the fabulous Sailing Home set. That’s another Annual Catalog set. Next up we have another fun fold. This time Lisa Lepine used one of my favorite sets, Positive Thoughts.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Lisa actually won the challenge this month. Everyone that participates, gets their name in the drawing for the prize. Each month, the challenge, gives us all so many ideas and inspiration. Lisa’s easel card really shows off the incredible possibilities with this set. Last, but certainly not least, we have Klarissa Nightingale.

Simple Stamping Team Challenge, Susan's WOW Team, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Klarissa too used one of my favorites, Beautiful Friendship. Her fabulous use of color and assortment of stamps created a beautiful background for her sentiment.  This set is truly a winner and a must-have staple in your craft stash.

Can you belive it, just stamps, ink and paper. Finally, since Lisa was the winner this month, I’m featuring her card in a video tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

Didn’t they all do a fabulous job? I hope you enjoyed this month’s WOW Team Challenge. You could be a part of this fun too. Thinking about joining Stampin’ Up!? I would love to have you on my WOW Team.  Contact me today so we can get you started.
