Concertina Birthday Fancyfold

Concertina Birthday Fancyfold

You might be thinking, what is a Concertina Fold?  It’s a lovely display type card that has a fan-folded center.  It’s a great display card and the concertina can have as many folds, or sections as you like.  In this concertina fold I decided on a five-fold, with seven panels.  My thought was to design it so that it would fit into one of our mini pizza boxes.  Presentation is everything, right? In that way I could also include a gift card to complete the birthday gift for a friend.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Concertina Fold, Stampin' Up!

Thank goodness those sweet little pizza boxes are carrying over to our new Annual Catalog. They make the perfect gift presentation and are coated on the inside, making them food safe.  On this one, I dressed in up by stamping in Pool Party ink with the flourish from Timeless Textures.  Then it was just a a matter of decorating the top.  Unfortunately, that pretty Whole Lot of Lovely DSP is sold out, but we still have the Myths and Magic 6×6 Glimmer Paper.  The cute sentiment came from the Picture Perfect Birthday set.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Concertina Fold, Stampin' Up!

The sweet little flower was created with out Blossom Builder Punch and a couple of leaves punched from the glimmer paper with the Leaf Punch. Just punch three flower images, pop them together, top it with the center and highlight with a Glitter Enamel Dot.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Concertina Fold, Stampin' Up!

The color combo of Powder Pink, Pool Party, Whisper White, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede makes this what I call a “happy card”.  The sweet cake image on the front of the concertina is from the retiring Birthday Delivery Bundle.  You still have time to scoop that one up and at a 10% discount.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Concertina Fold, Stampin' Up!

Be sure to add your gift card to the inside of the mini pizza box.  I used our fantastic mini glue dots.  That makes it easy to remove and the recipient won’t destroy the cute little box. They may even decide to share the love and use it for their next gift to someone special.

Silver Gable Boxes Happy Birthday Style

Silver Gable Boxes Happy Birthday Style

If you’re like me, gift presentation is a big deal.  But, these sweet silver gable boxes make that a breeze. They are silver foil, food safe and come twelve to a package.  So, that’s economical, pretty and easy.  What could be better?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Silver Gable Boxes, Stampin' UP!

The absolutely gorgeous silver foiled Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP was a perfect way to start this project.  Silver foiling adds a textured look to the handprinted designs.  There are 12 sheets in the package, 12″ x 12″, 2 each of 6 double-sided designs.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Silver Gable Boxes, Stampin' UP!

Designing with Stampin’ UP! products is a pleasure.  Why?  Everything coordinates, taking that part of the equation out of the picture.  Look at that lovely Whisper White Metallic Edge Ribbon.  One of the best features of this ribbon is that it is neutral.  But, if you need it in a color, just break out a Stampin’ Blend and color it and voila, you have that color but it will maintain the metallic edge. Sweet!!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Silver Gable Boxes, Stampin' UP!

I love it when Stampin UP! offers a coordinating punch to a stamp set.  It’s a marriage made in heaven, the Duet Banner Punch and Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set.  That’s what I used to create that super cute silver embossed celebrate banner.

Would you like to create this silver gable box right along with me?  Just click the video and we’ll do just that.

Mermaid Treat Holder

Mermaid Treat Holder

Who doesn’t love a Mermaid? What’s not to love a Mermaid is cute, whimsical, magical, playful and reminds us of our childhood.  Mermaids just plain make you smile.  I think any child would love to receive a Mermaid Treat.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Mermaid from Myths & Magic

Have you seen the Myths and Magic Specialty DSP in the Stampin’ UP! Occasions Catalog?   This paper is so versatile.  It can be used for cards, treats, scrapbook pages, 3D items and so much more.  The 12×12 paper has iridescent glittered designs on one side, colorful all-occasions imagery on the other.  The little mermaid on this treat holder was fussy cut from one of the sheets.  You could cut 18 mermaids  from one sheet.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Mermaid from Myths & Magic

I wanted the design to mimic bubbles.  So I got out my layering circles as well as the new Gold Glitter Flakes to create those elements in my little scene.  The wavy look on the circle behind the mermaid was created with the Seaside Embossing Folder.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Mermaid from Myths & Magic

I needed a small sentiment, so I pulled out my So Many Shells stamp set and there it was, that little “For You”, perfect!  I stamped the image in Fresh Fig and punched it out with 1″ circle punch.  The scallop circle behind the sentiment is from our new 1 1/8″ scallop circle punch.

Let me show you how I made this Mermaid Treat, in this video tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Treat Box – Powder Pink CS – two @ 4 1/4″ x 6 1/2″, cut with the die from Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies.  Cut a circle in one of the box images using the Layering Circle Framelits.
  • Window Sheet – two @ 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
  • Ring Around the Window – Fresh Fig CS – 3″ x 3″, cut with the Layering Circle Framelits
  • Focal Image – Gold Glimmer Paper 2 3/4″ x 2 1/2″, cut with the Layering Circle Framelit and Powder Pink CS, punched with the 2″ Circle punch and embossed with the Seaside Folder.
  • Mermaid – Myths and Magic Specialty DSP – Fussy cut the image.
  • Bottom Trim – Gold Glimmer Paper – 3″ x 1/2″ and Myths and Magic DSP – 3 1/2″ x 3/4″, cut with the die from Magic Mates
  • Sentiment – Powder Pink CS – punch one image with the 1 1/8″ Scallop Circle punch and Shimmery White CS – Scrap to stamp image from So Many Shells in Fresh Fig
  • Love Mini Tinsel Trim – Powder Pink – 12″

Magical Day Castle

Magical Day Castle

WOW, when I saw the Magical Day bundle in the Occasions Catalog, the first thing I thought was, wouldn’t it be awesome if I could create an interactive castle drawbridge card.  I thought about it for a couple of days and this little creation was born.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Magical Day

And yes, when you open the Magical Day card the drawbridge lowers to reveal your sentiment.  Isn’t that cool?  And what made this card even easier to create was the gorgeous Myths and Magic Specialty DSP.  That paper is so beautiful, great bold images on one side and backgrounds on the opposite side.  I fussy cut both the dragon and knight from the DSP.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Magical Day

The outside of the card sets the tone for our little Magical Day story.  The cute wizard was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker and his beard was colored with the Basic Gray watercolor pencil.  I just had to add Wink of Stella to his hat and gown.  The more sparkle on this one, the better.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Magical Day

Doesn’t the little scene look inviting?  And that drawbridge is just too cute.  The Home Sweet Home Thinlits dies were perfect to cut the door and window treatments.  I used the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack for the floor of the drawbridge.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Magical Day

Look at that dragon all sparkly and regal!  There are a number of dragons on the DSP, each one cuter than the next.  It was hard to choose which one to have in the scene.

WOW NOLA Creations, Susan Levasseur, Stampin' Up!, Magical Day

And in any Magical Day, you need a Knight in shining armor.  This little guy is just too stinkin’ cute.  Maybe instead of slaying the dragon they will be lifelong friends.

Would you like to learn how to create a Magical Day drawbridge card?  Here you go.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Basic Gray CS – 8″ x 11″, on the 11” side, score at 2 ¾” and 8 ¼”. Turn 90 degrees and on the 8” side score at 3 ¾” and 7 ½”. Turn the card stock to the 11” side again with the ½” score line at the top score to the 1st score line only at ¾”, 1 ½”, 2 ¼”, 3”, 3 ¾”, 4 ½”, 5 ¼”, 6”, 6 ¾”, 7 ½”, 8 ¼”, 9”, 9 ¾”, 10 ½”. Trim as shown in the video and then emboss with the brick wall embossing folder.
  • Wizard – Shimmer White CS – 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″, stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut with the matching die.  Color the robe and hat with the Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker and then with Wink of Stella pen.  Color the beard with the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil.
  • Dragon & Knight – Fussy cut from the Myths and Magic DSP
  • Front Sentiment – Shimmer White CS – 3 1/4″ x 2 1/4″, stamped in Tranquil Tide with the stamp from Magical Day, cut with Stitched Shapes Oval.  Scallop Oval, Tranquil Tide CS – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″, cut with the Layering Ovals die.
  • Inside Sentiments – Shimmer White CS – Banner – 3″ x 2″, stamped in Tranquil Tide with the stamp from Magical Day.  Shimmer White CS – Oval – 2″ x 3 1/2″, stamped in Tranquil Tide with the stamp from Picture Perfect Birthday, cut with the Layering Ovals die.  Scallop Oval, Tranquil Tide CS – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″, cut with the Layering Ovals die.
  • Drawbridge DSP – Wood Textures DSP Paper Stack -3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″.  Use the scrap to cut the door with the Home Sweet Home die.
  • Door Trim and Windows – Basic Black CS – Scraps, cut with dies from the Home Sweet Home dies.  Trim in the windows – Daffodil Delight CS.  Color one Basic Pearl with a black sharpie to form the doorknob.
  • Grommets – Basic Black CS – Punch four with the 1/2″ circle punch.  Punch a strip four times with the 1/8″ handheld punch and then hover over each with the 1/2″ circle punch and punch out image.
