Here, I’ve used the opposite side of the sheet to line my envelope. Pretty dramatic, if I say so myself.

To make the floral image, from the Blessings of Home set, really pop. I’ve embossed a new Vellum, Layering Designs, with the Parisian 3D Embossing Folder. Such an easy way to add lots of texture.

To add a little color to the smaller floral image, my blending brush to the rescue. Told ya, this card was quick and easy.

I’ve used that technique on both the envelope and the inside of the card. Be sure to check out today’s free video tutorial to learn all about these new projects.

Vintage Fall with Gorgeous Leaves & Pretty Pumpkins

Vintage Fall with Gorgeous Leaves & Pretty Pumpkins

By popular demand, I’m sharing a Vintage Fall style with you guys today. Stampin’ Up! has designed two beautiful bundles to get the job done. I’ll be featuring both the Gorgeous Leaves and Pretty Pumpkins bundles with a little of the Iconic Dies. Let’s get busy.

Vintage Fall with Gorgeous Leaves & Pretty Pumpkins, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I’m in love with all those shabby, vintage fall style images and all the layers of texture. Because I used a 6″ x 6″ card front, I’ve got lots of real estate to decorate. First off, I broke out a package of the Harvest Meadow DSP and chose two patterns to tie everything together.

Vintage Fall with Gorgeous Leaves & Pretty Pumpkins, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Then I chose a very vintage fall inspired color palette, Early Espresso, Bumblebee, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake. By using my blending brush, I was able to tone down the basic white in the design with a little Crumb Cake ink.

Vintage Fall with Gorgeous Leaves & Pretty Pumpkins, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To create my faux fence, I cut a few strips of Early Espresso card stock and embossed them with the new Timber 3D embossing folder. Next, rough up the edges to give some texture.

I love that pumpkin image, it’s so unique with all those leaves  the surface. Be sure to add just a touch of Wink of Stella on some of the leaves, to bring in a little sparkle.

Vintage Christmas 2 WOW Cards

Vintage Christmas 2 WOW Cards

My favorite type of card to create would have to be vintage. With that in mind, I created not just one, but two vintage Christmas cards to share with you guys today. I’ve got lots of inspiration, ideas, and techniques incorporated into the designs. Hope you learn a thing or two that you can use in your Christmas card making.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Let’s break down each of these vintage Christmas cards. We’ll tackle the warm wishes card first. To create my background, I crimped a mat of Soft Suede CS. Then I added the Shimmery White Embossing Paste. I love that stuff. It gave the mat a snowy look and was the perfect backdrop for my poinsettia.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The poinsettia dies both cut and emboss in one pass through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. I love all the texture.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Did you know you can change the color of trims and ribbon with our Stampin’ Blends? Yep, you sure can. I colored the Very Vanilla Lace Trim with my Dark Peal Pink Stampin’ Blend to match both the flower and the berries.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

All it took to finish off my 1st vintage Christmas card was to stamp an inside greeting. Because I punched the corners of the inside mat with the Detailed Trio punch, it added a cute vintage detail.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Ready for card #2? This one too has a snowy effect, but I’ve used a different technique, This time with white embossing powder.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Not only did I emboss a couple of snowflakes on the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper, but added a detail around the entire edge of the mat. Versa Mark sticky ink to the rescue. Just drag the pad over the edges to create snow drifts. Tadah!!!

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

And yep another beautiful poinsettia. This time I wanted a gray and blue palette to mimic those winter skies we are all about to enjoy (hopefully). By adding an accent mat, I was able to anchor both the poinsettia and the embossed sentiment.

Vintage Christmas, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Ready to finish the inside? Let’s add a little stamping and a strip of the same DSP we used on the front of the card.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic

Very Vintage Shabby Chic

Welcome!! So happy you could join me today. I’ve got two very vintage shabby chic cards to share. This is my favorite type of card to create. Each card was created with a specific person in mind, so that makes them extra special to me. Hope you agree.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The first one I worked on was the beautiful monochromatic Butterfly Brilliance card. Soft Sea Foam is fast becoming on elf my favorite greens, right behind Old Olive.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Butterfly Brilliance, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

This one is for my daughter, Jennifer. Her birthday is this weekend. She loves to garden and likes things more on the elegant side. Her back yard is a haven for butterflies, birds and her new little squirrel. There are flowers everywhere. It’s a very English Cottage Garden look. So it was quite easy for me to choose the Butterfly Brilliance bundle to start things off.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Butterfly Brilliance, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

One of the elements of vintage shabby chic design is the use of layers. At least, I think so. So, I pulled out my Ornate Layers dies and began that process.  The soft green of Soft Sea Foam really brought the elegance factor to the card.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Butterfly Brilliance, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The sweet little butterflies needed a landing area. I used our Heart Punch Pack to punch the images, but the white layer needed some texture. Because I embossed them with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, I achieved just the right amount of texture.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Butterfly Brilliance, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Keeping it simple, on the inside of the card, gave me lots of room to write a little note to Jennifer. I love the font in the stamp from the Best Year set. Ready for the second shabby chic design? This one is totally different with handmade flowers and an enchanted color palette.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Believe it or not, this card started with the selection of the designer series paper. The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper has many great background textures to choose from. I decided on the one that looks like stucco. Kicking it up a notch, I used the soon to be released Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I LOVE this folder and will be using it a lot.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Bringing in a little pink with the Hand-Penned DSP tied the design together, just like a present with the perfect bow. Did I mention both DSP packs are on sale? Scoop up a pack of each by August 2nd. Next in the design process, was creating a couple of handmade flowers. Yes, that is one of my favorite things to do.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I used the Poinsettia die set to create my handmade flowers. I’ve spritzed the petals with a concoction of 7 drops of Blushing Bride ink refill and rubbing alcohol. It gave the flower a dusty pink look, with some of the white still showing through.

Very Vintage Shabby Chic, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The design is anchored with the gorgeous die cut from the Encircled in Beauty die set. There are so many possibilities with that one.

Sit back, relax and let me teach you the techniques I’ve used. I sure hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating them.
