Noble Peacock Foil & Specialty Papers

Noble Peacock Foil & Specialty Papers

Welcome everyone! Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Today, I’ve got the first in a three-card series featuring the Noble Peacock Foil & Specialty Papers. Because they will be retiring June 2, 2020, don’t wait to add a pack or two to your next order. That way, you can follow along with me during this series, to create some over the top cards for everyone on your list.

Noble Peacock Foil, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

By keeping things monochromatic, I think this card has a very calm and elegent effect. The Noble Peacock paper packs contain sheets in colors of Blueberry Bushel, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock. Isn’t that a rich color palette? For this one, we’ll stick to the Old Olive to create that tone on tone look.

Noble Peacock Foil, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I’ve embossed the square of Noble Peacock foil with the Layered Leaves 3D embossing folder. Sadly, that one will be retiring as well. And I’ll bet you’re wondering which DSP I’ve got in the background. It’s the beautiful Pressed Petals Specialty DSP.  Psst…. it’s retiring too!

Noble Peacock Foil, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Coordination of products is one of the cornerstones in all Stampin’ Up! products. You never have to worry, does this element match that. The Noble Peacock rhinestones, I’ve used, match the papers and foil beautifully.

Noble Peacock Foil, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Both sentiments are from the Silhouette Scenes set. That one will carry over, hooray!! Likewise, the gorgeous leafy branch, from Very Versailles with be in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. I’m very excited we get to play with that set a while longer.

Noble Peacock Foil, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Remember, no naked envelopes. With just a little effort you can dress up an otherwise boring envelope. I’ve added the leaf image to both the front and the flap, making it super special. Ready for a video on this one? Here you go.

Here’s how the magic happens.

Floral Essence Friendship Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The Monet inspired papers are truly lovely and lend themselves to all sorts of card making styles. By adding the Blueberry Bushel as my main mat, the colors in the paper really pop.

Floral Essence Friendship Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I’ve featured an array of the stamps from the set. I love doing that. It helps to show all the possibilities. Because I stamp the leaves and twisted them with my tweezers, it also adds another dimension to the card. Be sure to pick up the Leaf Punch before it fully retires. It’s been a staple in my studio for a number of years and I know I’m going to miss it terribly.

Floral Essence Friendship Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Another way I added dimension was by stamping some extra flowers and fussy cutting them.  Similarly, by embossing the banner and accent band with that awesome Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, it takes things to another level.

Center Box Fold Poppy Garden

Center Box Fold Poppy Garden

Spring has sprung! A few days ago I saw a report about fields of wild poppies blooming in California. That’s what inspired today’s center box fold poppy garden card.

Center Box Poppy Garden, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Stick with me, I promise this card is not difficult at all. I’lll be showing you some easy short cuts to make this one of your new favorite fancy folds. Let’s start off with the card front.

Center Box Poppy Garden, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Remember that field of poppies I mentioned at the beginning? Doesn’t this background paper remind you of those fields? Poppies come in lots of colors, and I wanted to show that off as well.

Center Box Poppy Garden, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Voila, open that pretty card and the sweet little center box fold opens up to reveal the poppy garden. To create the garden, I used the Peaceful Poppies Elements. The element package contains 8 sheets total, two sheets printed black elements, two sheets printed thick cardstock, 2 sheets printed vellum and two sheets watercolor paper.

Center Box Poppy Garden, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Inside the center box fold, you’ll find four little platforms to build the poppy garden. But the magic of it all, is that the card still lies flat. Because the fold has enough room for two more panels, I decided to incorporate even more beautiful poppies, designer series paper and some lovely sentiments to boot.

Similarly, you always want to include an area to include a handwritten message.  Turn your card over and there is an entire panel to decorate and use for that purpose.

Double Point Fancy Fold, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I think it’s fabulous that this fold allows you to add two large mats for stamping and greetings. On those cute little flowers, I used a masking technique. Be sure to check out the video tutorial for all the details.

WOW, are these colors happy? My husband, a true LSU Fan, only saw the purple and gold and loved it. Hahahahaha!!! Because I used Purple Posy, Daffodil Delight and Mint Macaron, my color palette is soft and very spring time. This is a perfect card to lift some spirits.

Under My Umbrella Fancy Fold, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Stencil Embossing Technique Timeless Tropical

Stencil Embossing Technique Timeless Tropical

Do you love techniques? I sure do and I’ve got one to share with you today. It’s the stencil embossing technique. Here’s a very economical way to create beautiful backgrounds using Stampin’ Up!’s Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. Because the masks are sold in a set of four, you have the opportunity to create four different backgrounds.

Stencil Embossing, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

First of all, I knew I wanted this card to have a tropical vibe. I should be in Hawaii right now, but (sad face) not possible due to the Corona thingy.  Above all, I wanted to include a technique I haven’t tried before, the stencil embossing technique. I broke out my masks, inks and copper embossing powder and went to work.

Stencil Embossing, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The color palette is Coastal Cabana, Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron. As a result, I was able to really add that tropical look and feel to my background. To begin your stencil embossing, be sure you have a versa mark pad that is juicy. You’ll be applying the ink through the stencil to the paper.

Stencil Embossing, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

By blending the three colors with my makeup blender brushes, achieving that smooth blended look was easy.

Stencil Embossing, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Embossing the flowers, leaves and sentiments really tied things altogether. I even die cut the sentiment accent frame from Copper Foil using the die from Ornate Layers. You gotta add that set your next order. You won’t regret it.

Stencil Embossing, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Because the Timeless Tropical set includes that big gorgeous hibicus, I knew I wanted to highlight it in some way. That’s when I decided to stamp it on my inside mat in Soft SeaFoam. Want to learn the stencil embossing technique? Here’s my FREE video tutorial to show you how.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
  • Mats – Mint Macaron CS – two @ 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Mats – Whisper White CS – two @ 3 3/4″ x 5″.
  • Accent Frame – Copper Foil – 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″, cut with the die from Ornate Layers.
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 1 1/8″ x 2 1/2″.
  • Small Leaves – Soft Seafoam CS and Mint Macaron CS – one each @ 1 3/4″ x 2″, cut with the dies from In the Tropics set.
  • Flowers and Large Leaves – Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, once stamped and inked, cut with the dies from In the Tropics set.
