Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Strong & Beautiful Fancy Fold

Because I had so many goodies to play with, I knew I wanted to create a fancy fold to show them all off. My color combo is Whisper White, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover. Some of my friends call these primary colors. I just call them happy!!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Strong & Beautiful Fancy Fold

The Strong & Beautiful set not only has sentiments for the outside of the card but great inside sentiments as well.  I’ll bet you have a family member or fabulous friend that this card applies to.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Strong & Beautiful Fancy Fold

Incredible Like You

Incredible Like You

Oh my goodness, don’t miss the Incredible Like You stamp set on page 21 of the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog.  This set has lovely sentiments and a 2-step flower that I am dying to ink up.  But, in today’s card I needed to keep it simple.  Why? This is one of the cards that I created for our “Cards for the Troops” drive.  We needed to create cards that were fabulous, but flat. Too much dimension causes extra postage. Be sure to check out my previous post where I showed the other card I created for the cause.

Incredible Like You Amazing Card

See, you can create a card with a couple of layers that will not require additional postage.  Be Mine Stitched Framelits to the rescue.  Not to mention, our Tin Tile Embossing Folder added the WOW factor.

Incredible Like You Amazing Card

This card is simple and easy to mass produce. With only one ink color, one stamp set, an embossing folder and one set of dies, I think we nailed this one.

Incredible Like You Amazing Card

Because the Incredible Like You set has so many fabulous sentiments, it was hard to choose which one to use. But, I settled on this one. I thought it was versatile and could be used for lots of occasions. While you are looking at the catalog and placing your order for the Incredible Like You stamp set, don’t miss the project kit. Those cards are FABULOUS!! The kit is easy to create and when you’re done you’ll have 16 cards ready to send.

Incredible Like You Amazing Card

And did you know that when you cut that heart border die all those little hearts fall out.  Talk about Lagniappe!!!! I keep them all in little zip locks, they come in soooo handy.

How about a video tutorial so you can see how quick and easy this one comes together.  Hope you enjoy it and decide to create a few of your own.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Very Vanilla CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Mat – Powder Pink – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Embossed Mat – Very Vanilla CS – 3 3/4″ x 5″, embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder

The subtle color palette of Petal Pink, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White are perfect for this card. The addition of Basic Black makes everything pop.  You could use this card for sympathy or thinking of you. The sentiments in the set are so versatile.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lasting Lily, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

Lasting Lily would be a great addition to your stamp collection. The flowers can be stamped in any color combination to give your card just the right look for all occasions. Because I cut the ovals with or Layering Oval Framelits, it made creating the focal image quick and easy.  Those dies are a go-to for me.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lasting Lily, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

The set include a fabulous grunge stamp that I used to create the frame around the flowers. By stamping off twice in So Saffron, I think I achieved just the right amount of color.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lasting Lily, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

The lovely die cut from the Petals and More Thinlits is another one of my favorites. By using that one, the sentiment is really grounded. I’ve got a few tips to share with you.  Sit back, relax and view my FREE video tutorial.

Z-Fold Climbing Roses

Z-Fold Climbing Roses

Aren’t fancy folds fun? I sure think so. Today, I’ll be sharing my Z-Fold Climbing Roses card. An added plus is the coloring technique. It’s a simple watercolor wash on Shimmery White card stock. So quick and easy, you won’t believe it.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Z-Fold Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

WOW, right? The jumping off point for my Z-fold Climbing Roses card was the color combination. I love bright vibrant colors, so I chose Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron and Whisper White. The designer series paper comes for our Nature’s Poem collection. One sheet is more beautiful than the next.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Z-Fold Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Did you know that Shimmery White cardstock will hold up to watercolor wash techniques? The paper is thicker and has a coating, so no pilling!  Not only that, you get the added plus of having shimmer built in.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Z-Fold Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Whoever you decide to gift this card to will want to display it. That’s what makes the z-fold such a popular fancy fold. You can get one card from a sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock. You’ll even have a couple scraps left over.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Z-Fold Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

I’m loving our Rectangle Stitched Framelits. That was the perfect die to pull from my stash to cut the sweet sentiment.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Z-Fold Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

The inside panel of my z-fold still has lots of room for you to write a message and sign your name. Would you like to create one?  Guess what I have for you.  Yep, another FREE video tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Main Card Base – Blackberry Bliss CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″
  • Inside Z-Fold Base – Blackberry Bliss CS – 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″
  • Mats – Grapefruit Grove CS – two @ 4″ x 2 1/2″, one @ 5 1/4″ x 4″ and one @ 4″ x 3 1/4″ . The 4″ x 3 1/4″ mat run through the Big Shot with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.

Climbing Roses with Mother of Pearl Technique

Climbing Roses with Mother of Pearl Technique

Don’t let the Climbing Roses bundle on page 9 of the new Occasions Catalog fool you. You can achieve some gorgeous looks without even coloring.  Join me in the studio for the first of two projects featuring this set and some techniques you won’t want to miss.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Me oh my, I love anything vintage and I think this card fits the bill. I love showing different ways to use your stamps and dies. Those toys are an investment and we should use them to their fullest potential. But, did you know that when you purchase the Climbing Roses bundle you save 10%.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Because, it’s a line art stamp with lots of detail, I’ll bet you thought you had to color it to give it interest and depth.  Well, I’m here to say, put those markers away for now.  Stamping on Designer Series Paper gave it just enough contrast. And then, using the Mother of Pearl technique on top of that, took it to the next level.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Photographing shimmer is tough, but I hope you can see it on the little roses.  After heat embossing in black, I applied some of our Champagne Shimmer Paint with a piece of plastic wrap. After it was dry, I sponged on some Sahara Sand ink to really give it that vintage look.  Then just buffing with a dry paper towel brought all the shimmer forward.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

The dies in the Rose Trellis set are just so beautiful, I had to cut that big rose for the inside to finish things off.  Be sure to back your paper with our Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets before die cutting. Why! It makes the die cut a sticker and is so much easier to adhere to the project.

I taught this card initially on my Sunday WOW Facebook Live Show.  I’m live on Sunday’s at 7:00 (CST).  Be sure to join in the fun.  But no worries, if you missed it, here is a FREE video tutorial for you.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Mat – Sahara Sand CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Embossed Mat – Petal Pink CS – 3 3/4″ x 5″, embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder
  • Trellis – Sahara Sand CS – 2 1/2″ x 5″

  • Leaves – Sahara Sand CS – 2 1/2″ x 3″
  • Inside Detail Rose – Petal Promenade DSP – 2 3/4″ x 2″
