Tropical Chic Meets Purple Posy

Tropical Chic Meets Purple Posy

Welcome! Today’s card, featuring the Tropical Chic bundle, incorporates lots of my favorites. First, off, it’s soft and sweet. Second, it’s a thank you card. I always need lots of those. Third, it’s quick and easy, but still has a WOW factor. Fourth, I created my own background by using the stamps in the sets. And last, but not least, I’m premiering a brand spankin’ new in-color, Purple Posy. LOVE IT!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Tropical Chic Meets Purple Posy, Stampin' Up!

The Tropical Chic bundle will carry over to the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. But, don’t wait until then to order it. Right now, you can enjoy a 10% discount. Once the new catalog launches, they are sold separately and you’ll loose the discount. And as you can see, the Tropical Chic set isn’t just for bold and rich colors. You can incorporate lots of different color palettes for alternate looks.

This Tropical Chic color combo is Purple Posy, Soft Sea Foam,Whisper White and So Saffron. I’m loving this fresh, soft look with this set.  You could put a batch of these together in now time at all.

The new Annual Catalog will launch June 4th. If you are a current customer, I will be mailing those out mid-May. The new in-colors, Purple Posy, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray will launch at that time. They are all fabulous. I can’t wait to highlight each of the colors in future projects. If you aren’t currently working with a demonstrator, let me know. I’ld love to earn your business and get a catalog out to you.

Be sure to visit my WOW NOLA Creations Facebook Page where I filmed my weekly Facebook Live and debuted this card. And by the way, during my Live Show, you’ll also see two other creations. One features the Pop of Petals bundle and the other is a sneak peek. To a Wild Rose is one of my favorite new bundles. Be sure to stop by and subscribe to my Page. You won’t want to miss future projects.

Bloom by Bloom Thank You

Bloom by Bloom Thank You

Whose ready for another happy card? You can’t help but smile and be happy when you stamp with the Bloom by Bloom set. The images are bold, easy to stamp and make the perfect backgrounds.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Bloom by Bloom, Stampin' Up!

Be sure to check out the backer boards on your DSP packs. There you will find a list of all the coordinating colors. That’s a good place to start when choosing a color palette.  For this card, I used Whisper White, Call Me Clover, Calypso Coral and Night of Navy.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Bloom by Bloom, Stampin' Up!

The large floral image made the perfect focal image for this card.  Yes, I did have to fussy cut it, but really it was quick and easy. To dress up the sides of the DSP, I used the border die in the Be Mine Stitched Framelits. That little die is worth it’s weight in gold.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Bloom by Bloom, Stampin' Up!

Using my Dark Pineapple Punch Blend, I colored the pearls to highlight the top of the flower.  Pretty cute, if I say so myself. And that gorgeous Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon tied everything together in more ways than one.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Bloom by Bloom, Stampin' Up!

The Bloom by Bloom set doesn’t have any sentiments. So, I went to the Strong & Beautiful set to gather those. To finish off the inside of the card I stamped the greeting and another flower, this one smaller than the focal flower.

I featured this card in a Facebook Live. I would love to have you join in the fun next time. Be sure to like and follow my page. Who knows, maybe you could win a  prize. I go Live on Sunday evenings at 7pm (CST).

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Mat – Call Me Clover CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″, scatter stamp, different images from the set, in Call Me Clover.
  • Focal Mat – Calypso Coral CS – 4″ x 3″

Polished Stone Technique Climbing Roses

Polished Stone Technique Climbing Roses

Have you heard of the Polished Stone Technique? It’s an oldie, but goodie and so quick and easy you’ll want to crate a whole batch of backgrounds for your next card making session.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Polished Stone Technique, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

My color combo is Highland Heather, Pool Party and Blackberry Bliss.  By heat embossing the gorgeous floral image from the Climbing Roses set, it took this card to the next level. Because each card is different, you’ll really have fun with this technique.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Polished Stone Technique, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

Why is it called polished stone? Doesn’t the finished product remind you of a slab of marble? I think so. And this is yet another way of “coloring” that big floral image without using markers, making it very quick and easy.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Polished Stone Technique, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

I love finishing off the inside of my cards.  The trellis die cut was trimmed and used both on the front and inside of the card. That’s the perfect way to use up every smidge of your die cuts.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Polished Stone Technique, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

I hope you can see the sparkle on both the butterfly element and the leaves under that lovely little bow.  I used Wink of Stella to add just the right amount of bling.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Polished Stone Technique, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!

The little detail on the sentiment was done with a 1/2″ circle punch.  You can use that little technique on any size sentiment. Would you like to learn more about that and the polished stone technique?  I’ve filmed a video tutorial to show you how.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Blackberry Bliss CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Mat – Pool Party CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Polished Stone Mat – Glossy White CS – 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Trellis Die Cut – Blackberry Bliss CS – 2 1/2″ x 5″
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 2 1/4″ x 1″
  • Leaves – Pool Party CS – 1 1/2″ x 2″
  • Inside Mat – Whisper White CS – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Small Rose – Whisper White CS – 2″ x 2″
  • Ribbon – Highland Heather 1/4″ Organdy – about 8″

If you need any supplies to complete the project, I would appreciate you shopping my online stone.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

WOW, where in the world is 2018 going?  Can you believe the holiday season is here.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Happy Thanksgiving

As some of you know, I grew up on a farm, still there by the way.  Our family tradition is to have Thanksgiving dinner in the Barn.  We all gather together and my Mom and Dad still do ALL the cooking.  At ages 88 and 86, they just keep going, just like the energizer bunny. There will be about 30 of us there, eating, sharing, praying and making memories.

What’s your favorite family tradition? How many do you have at the table? I hope each and every one of you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Be sure so share what you love with those you love.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Happy Thanksgiving

I’m thankful and blessed for each of you that take time to visit here, or on my YouTube Channel or my Facebook Page.  I love hearing your comments, suggestions and feedback.  By the way, leave a comment here on the blog today to be entered in a drawing for prize from me.  Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Country Home Fall Card

Country Home Fall Card

It’s Fall Y’all, and nothing says that more than the Country Home stamp set.  The images in this set remind me of sweet Fall floral arrangements.  I love walking the levee behind my house, during this season of the year, picking Fall wild flowers.  I just wish I had one of the metal cans to arrange them in.  I’m drawn to the old farmhouse look.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Country Home, Stampin' Up!

What says Country Home better than a metal milk jug, chicken wire and beautiful Fall colors?  Stampin’ Up! has made creating lovely cards like this one so quick and easy.  The products in the Country Lane Suite include that fabulous stamp set along with the chicken wire elements, and the fantastic County Lane Designer Series Paper. And wait, did you notice all the texture in the background?  That was created with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. That one is a must-have. It reminds me of the tin tile ceilings in lots of the old buildings here in New Orleans.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Country Home, Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Blends will make you feel like an artist. These high-quality alcohol markers come in both a light and dark shade of the color offered.  In my Country Home card, I’ve used dark Blackberry Bliss, light and dark Smoky Slate, dark Old Olive and light and dark Calypso Coral.  The color goes on so smooth and even, you barely have to touch the paper and the color just glides!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Country Home, Stampin' Up!

Did you notice the splatter around the focal image?  I did that using my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker.  Just use the cap on the brush tip and flick the color on.  Instant texture!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Country Home, Stampin' Up!

To accentuate the texture on the Tin Tile embossed mat, I just sponged on a little Smoky Slate ink.  It really made things pop.  I’ve got a FREE video tutorial for you, to show you how I can created this Country Home card. Hope you enjoy!

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Embossed Mat – Smoky Slate CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″, embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder
  • DSP – Country Lane – 2″ x 5 1/4″
  • Accent Band – Crushed Curry CS – 5 1/4″ x 3/4″, embossed with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder
  • Focal Mat – Cajun Craze CS – 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″
  • Stamped Image – Thick Whisper White CS – 4″ x 2 1/4″

Stamping/inking/coloring:

  • On the piece of thick Whisper White, stamp the image in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Color with the Stampin’ Blends markers. Flick the color on the image with your Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker.
  • Sponge Smoky Slate ink onto the surface of the Smoky Slate embossed mat.
  • Wet glue the Smoky Slate mat to the card front.
  • Wet glue the DSP to the card front.
  • Adhere the chicken wire to the card front, attaching with scotch tape.
  • Wet glue the accent band to the seam of the DSP.  This will also help to secure the chicken wire to the card front.
  • Pop the stamped image to the Cajun Craze mat.
  • Pop the focal image to the card front.

If you need any supplies to complete the project, I would appreciate you shopping my online store.

World Card Making Day First Frost

World Card Making Day First Frost

Hooray, it’s World Card Making Day!! It’s not too late to get in your craft room and #makeacardsendacard for someone special. Handmade cards are unique, one of kind, treasures.  The cards reinforce how much one person loves another.  On this World Card Making Day, set aside some time to give a part of yourself. Your creation will be cherished and kept forever.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

For my World Card Making Day card, I used the First Frost bundle.  It’s not just for Christmas and I really wanted to show the versatility of this set. I needed a swap card for my WOW Team Swap, It’s Fall Y’all was the theme and I thought this would be a great opportunity to shake things up and use this set. Choosing my color palette was the first step. Warm colors speak Fall to me and so I chose Cajun Craze,Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss with hints of all things copper.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

The absolutely fabulous DSP background is from the Frosted Floral Specialty pack.  Talk about yummy!! This DSP has a shimmery, frosted look.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

Look at all that texture on the roses. And it’s so easy to do.  Just ink, stamps and paper and you’ll look like an artist. The beautiful copper accents were created with the sprig die from the First Frost set.  The Seasonal Layers Thinlits have so many fantastic dies, but I was drawn to that gorgeous leaf. I cut two of those for this design.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

When choosing the sentiment for my World Card Making Day card, I knew I wanted something that spoke to thanks and being grateful.  I knew we had just the right words with the lovely sentiments in Country Home.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

To me, a really special card isn’t complete until you’ve dressed up the inside.  It’s another little something that you can add to your card making to make the recipient feel truly special.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, World Card Making Day, First Frost, Stampin' Up!

I just love this card and I hope the person that will be receiving it will know how much they mean to me. Stamping the envelope will even make the postman take a second look and admire the gift I’m sending to my friend.

My World Card Making Day card has lots of layers and may look a little intimidating to some.  But, no worries, I’ve published this FREE video tutorial in case you want to create that special someone a WOW card.
