Brayer Technique with Friend Like You

Brayer Technique with Friend Like You

More fun with techniques! This time a fantastic brayer technique with our sponge brayers. Creating the sunset on this card is so easy. And the colors blend beautifully. My new scene builder set, Friend Like You, created the finishing touch.

Brayer Technique Friend Like You, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations

Our sponge brayers are sold with 2 handles and four sponges. And guess what, it’s only $8 for the whole kit-n-kaboodle.  To clean them, just rinse in the sink and ready to go the next time in any color you choose. The brayer technique doesn’t even have a learning curve. If you can load it and roll it, you got it.

Brayer Technique Friend Like You, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations

The second technique in this card only requires a little H2O. Don’t you love that splatter look? It addes another level of texture and interest.

Brayer Technique Friend Like You, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations

And what a cut sentiment. Because I love those rusty looking dragonfiles that frequent my background, I decided to stamp those in Cajun Craze.

Brayer Technique Friend Like You, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations

Don’t forget the inside of your card. Adding a little stamping steps it up a notch. With the two-step stamp in the set this one really created a lit of interest. Need a visual? Here’s a vido tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

Adventure Scrapbook Layout and More

Adventure Scrapbook Layout and More

Welcome! Guess what? Even if you aren’t a scrapbooker, I think you will enjoy this post. All the elements in my Adventure scrapbook layout can be adapted to your cardmaking and 3D projects.  My designs are filled with dimension, texture and interest. Let me show you how to stretch your dies and stamps and get more from them.

Creating Scrapbook Layouts with Stampin' Up!

Creating my own designer series paper is a favorite technique. This time I used Pretty Peacock and Smoky Slate with the Very Versailles set to create my background paper.

Creating Scrapbook Layouts with Stampin' Up!

For the title, I cut three of the words, stacked them and applied versa mark. Then by sprinkling it with clear embossing powder and heat setting with the heat tool, I created a more substantial element.

Creating Scrapbook Layouts with Stampin' Up!

To create even more interest on my adventure scrapbook layout, I created a secondary area to highlight a sentiment.  The Heirloom Frames helped to create the centering point. You could also add another photo, but I love the little sentiment tucked into the frame.

Techniques Galore with Silhouette Scenes

Techniques Galore with Silhouette Scenes

Woohoo!!!! I love techniques, how about you? In today’s card I will teach you four different techniques. I’m so excited to be using the Silhouette Scenes set again today. If you missed my previous post, catch it here

Techniques with Silhouette Scenes

Oh my goodness, I’ve got so much to share with you. Let’s tackle that gorgeous background first. You’ll need some of our Shimmery White CS. Psst, I love that paper and use it all the time. Because it holds up to water, it’s fabulous for techniques of all kinds. On this one, I created a wash with Night of Navy and Balmy Blue inks. Loving, the purple hue that came from the Night of Navy as it dried.

Techniques with Silhouette Scenes

Next up, that gorgeous “inspire” sentiment. Did you know we have two new embossing powders? One of which, the Shimmer Black is what I used to create my own custom paper. That way I could cut the word with the die and achieve all that shimmery goodness. With the scraps, I punched the cute little stars with the Twinkle Builder punch. Tada!!!!

Techniques with Silhouette Scenes

My night sky needed some twinkling stars. By flicking on droplets of our Frost White Shimmer Paint I achieved the look I was after. Hard to photograph, but believe me, it’s a fantastic look.

Techniques with Silhouette Scenes

The sentiments in this set are great for all occasions. This time I wanted to highlight the words even more. So, I gave my stitched rectangle a little wash as well. I really love the look. Be sure to take a moment to view my FREE video tutorial to see the techniques up close.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Mat – Night of Navy CS – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Stamped Mat – Shimmer White CS – 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Inspire – Whisper White CS – 3″ x 1 1/2″
  • Sentiment – Shimmer White CS – 1 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
  • Ribbon – 3/8″ Glittered Organdy –  approximately 10″

When shopping this month, remember for every $50 in your order (before tax and shipping), you earn a $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to spend in August. Hooray for that!!

Keep Dreaming with Silhouette Scenes

Keep Dreaming with Silhouette Scenes

Welcome stamping friends. Have you seen the new Silhouette Scenes bundle on page 133 of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog? This suite is filled with all sorts of new stamping goodies. But, I chose it for today’s project for it’s nostalic tug to my heart.

Silhouette Scenes Keep Dreaming

When I look at this little girl, happily swinging, it takes me back many years to my backyard. My dad built a GIANT swing set. I remember flinging my head back, just like the girl in this scene. When stamping the Silhouette Scenes images you’ll want a rich black image. By using versa mark and black embossing powder, I think you will achieve the coverage and that look.

Silhouette Scenes Keep Dreaming

Because Fall is my favorite season, I knew I wanted the tree branch to have that look and feel. Pigment Sprinkles to the rescue.  The sprinkles are offered in six Stampin’ Up! colors. So, no more worries about things matching.

Silhouette Scenes Keep Dreaming

Chosing my color palette was easy. I started off with the Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight pigment sprinkles and things bloomed from there. I’ve filmed a FREE video tutorial for my Keep Dreaming Silhouette Scenes card for you.  Enjoy!

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 9 1/2″ x 6″, scored at 4 3/4″
  • Mat – Basic Black CS – 5 3/4″ x 4 1/2″
  • Mat – Mango Melody CS – 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
  • Stamped Mat – Pool Party CS – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Tree Branch – Shimmery White CS – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 1/2″ x 3″
  • Banner – Shimmer White CS – cut from a scrap from the paper you will create with the Pigment Sprinkles, 1/2″ x 3″
  • Ribbon – Granny Apple Green – about 4″

Tasteful Backgrounds Thank You

Tasteful Backgrounds Thank You

Can’t get enough of the beautiful dies in the Tasteful Backgrounds set. Today is the second card using not just those dies, but the fabulous Pigment Sprinkles. Be sure you don’t miss my previous card. It’s a fancy fold. But today, the absolutely gorgeous mediallon image is the star of the show.

Tasteful Backgrounds, Pigment Sprinkles, Stampin' Up!

My color combo is Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White. It’s a fresh, summery look that just plain makes me happy.

Tasteful Backgrounds, Pigment Sprinkles, Stampin' Up!

Who knew that the new Scripty Embossing Folder would very quickly become a favorite. But I have to say, on this card, that gorgeous medallion shows off those pigment sprinkles brilliantly.

Tasteful Backgrounds, Pigment Sprinkles, Stampin' Up!

WOW, just look how dramatic the die cut is using the Tasteful Backgrounds set. Not to mention, that vibrant colors from the Pigment Sprinkles. Psst, did you notice the polka dot tulle ribbon is Daffodil Delight. I’ve got a sweet little technique to share with you in today’s FREE video tutorial.

Tasteful Backgrounds, Pigment Sprinkles, Stampin' Up!

Because I used fun foam to cut my “thanks” with the die from Well Written, it created even more dimension and texture. The fun foam is great because it doesn’t add any bulk or weight to the card. Why is that important? No extra postage necessary!

Want to learn a little more about my card? My video tutorial should help you out.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

  • Embossed Mat – Bermuda Bay CS – 5″ x 3 3/4″, embossed with the Scripty Embossing Folder.

Pigment Sprinkles Technique

Pigment Sprinkles Technique

Welcome! Today’s card is filled with lots of techniques. Starting things off, I’ll be using the new Pigment Sprinkles. These fabulous watercolor crystals come in a package of 6. Each 6gram pot contains a vibrant Stampin’ Up! color. The pigment sprinkles include Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, and Melon Mambo.

Stampin' Up! Pigment Sprinkles

Pigment Sprinkles are fabulous for techniques including creating your own background papers. That’s just what I did for today’s card.

Pigment Sprinkles Techniques, Tasteful Textures, Stampin' Up!, Gatefold

The Tasteful Backgrounds dies are a fabulous set to use for projects like this. The see-through image they leave behind, can be used to highlight your pigment sprinkles backbround paper. For this card I used pigment sprinkles in Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape.

Pigment Sprinkles Techniques, Tasteful Textures, Stampin' Up!, Gatefold

The image from the die also mimics the embossing in our new Beads and Baubles embossing folder. That’s what I call coordination! Gotta love Stampin’ UP!

Pigment Sprinkles Techniques, Tasteful Textures, Stampin' Up!, Gatefold

Because I stamped off that gorgeous medallion image in Gorgeous Grape, it added just the right touch to the focal image. I used the Layering Squares dies to cut both the focal image and the watercolor paper.

Pigment Sprinkles Techniques, Tasteful Textures, Stampin' Up!, Gatefold

Next, I wanted to finish off the inside of the card with more of the Tasteful Background dies and the pigment sprinkles paper. Isn’t it beautiful? And that sentiment is perfect!

Pigment Sprinkles Techniques, Tasteful Textures, Stampin' Up!, Gatefold

Look at all that texture, it’s hard not to love this. There are so many techniques, tips and tricks I’ld love to share with you. My card was featured first in my Sunday Live Facebook Show. But, I’ve also filmed a clean version for you today. Enjoy!

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored on the 8 1/2″ side at 2 1/8″ on both ends. This will form your gatefold.
  • Mats – Gorgeous Grape CS – two @2″ x 5 3/8″
  • Embossed Mats – Daffodil Delight CS – two @1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
