Lovely Lattice Salt Technique

Lovely Lattice Salt Technique

I love getting inky and using techniques to create my own backgrounds. I’ve used the Lovely Lattice stamp set to highlight my salt technique on this card. The vibrant bold colors in the background really set off the flowers on the lattice. This technique is so forgiving and easy card will be different. I love that!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lovely Lattice, Salt Technique, Stampin' Up!

Okay, I’ll bet you’re asking, “how did she do that”? If you don’t mind getting a little inky and using some unconventional supplies, this technique is for you. Go to the kitchen and grab the salt. Yep, that’s right salt. You can use fine grain or larger grain, whatever you have on hand will do.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lovely Lattice, Salt Technique, Stampin' Up!

For the salt technique, you’ll need some watercolor paper, ink refills of your choice, I used Melon Mambo and Highland Heather. Being sure the watercolor paper is wet enough is one of the key steps in the process. Your aqua painter will come in handy for that. Once you’ve got the ink refills applied to the watercolor paper, you’re ready to sprinkle the salt.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lovely Lattice, Salt Technique, Stampin' Up!

Waiting for this gorgeous paper to dry is the hardest part. Once it is bone dry, you will rub off the salt and you’ll have your gorgeous background paper ready to go.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Lovely Lattice, Salt Technique, Stampin' Up!

Because I heat embossed the Lovely Lattice images with Black Embossing Powder, it made it easier to color and fussy cut. So you might want to consider that.  It also gives the card a richness and another level of dimension. For my Lovely Lattice focal image, I used mainly Stampin’ Blends as my coloring medium. I didn’t have a Melon Mambo Blend, so I used my blender pen for those flowers.

So that you can see the technique first hand, I’ve created a FREE video tutorial for you. Enjoy!

Be sure to make your selections early, items are “while supplies last”. The Sale-a-Bration promotion ends March 31, 2019. Okay, back to these over the top beautiful cards. Remember, I’ve used the blocks from the Strong & Beautiful Gift Frame to create the cards. So, that design did double duty! Don’t you just love that?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Petal Promenade Card Set, Stampin' Up!

The Petal Promenade DSP has photographic floral designs on one side, marble designs and a textured appearance on the other side. The pack includes twelve, 12″ x 12″ sheets; two each of six double-sided designs. A few of the sheets even include trimmable elements. Those elements are what I chose for my Petal Promenade card set.

Breaking out my Butterfly Gala bundle was a must. The papers just cried out for some pretty butterflies. And oh, did I mention, my Monarchs have already laid eggs on my garden’s butterfly weed this season. The caterpillars are getting so big and I’ve even got some cocoons forming already. Come on Spring!!

Strong & Beautiful

Strong & Beautiful

Welcome! I’m pretty proud of the project I’ve got to share with you today. My inspiration was the Strong & Beautiful stamp set, which has so many lovely positive messages. The gorgeous papers in the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper pack coordinated beautifully.  And then the magic happened, when I laid a sheet of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper on top. Voila!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Strong & Beautiful Frame, Stampin' Up!

Each of the sweet little blocks on the framed piece are also part of the Petal Promenade papers. Isn’t it lovely? Just cut the blocks into 3″ x 3″ squares and you’re ready to start creating each little vignette. Can’t get any easier than that.

Four Seasons Quick Cards

Four Seasons Quick Cards

If you’re like me, you’re loving the new Painted Seasons stamp set and designer series paper. But, things just got even better on March 1st. We now have the Four Seasons Framelits available. No more fussy cutting those beautiful images. Break out that Big Shot to make creating this Four Seasons set of cards quick and easy.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Four Seasons, Painted Seasons, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

Using just one card design, I’ve created a card for each of the four seasons. Nothing says texture like embossing and I’ve used a different folder on each of the cards. Let’s say, that set the stage. Let’s start things off with Spring.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Four Seasons, Painted Seasons, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

This card makes me smile, how about you? The color combo is Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clover and Whisper White. I think that says fresh and new, just like Spring. By using a sponge dauber, I was even able to add a little color in the center of those gorgeous flowers. Our Country Floral embossing folder, which you can earn for FREE during Sale-a-Bration, added all that fabulous texture in the background.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Four Seasons, Painted Seasons, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

Next up in our four seasons lineup we have Summer. Those sweet succulents remind me of warm days and lots of sunshine. The color combo came from the DSP, Lemon Lime Twist, Petal Pink and Whisper White. And don’t you think the design in the Quilt Top embossing folder, reminds you of flower petals?  Moving along, we travel to Autumn.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Four Seasons, Painted Seasons, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

Lovin’ the colors in this one, but I’m drawn to those deep rich autumnal tones. And that sweet little mushroom paper is just too cute for words. I’ve used Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove and Whisper White in this one. The leaves in the Climbing Vines embossing folder work perfectly for this card. Last, but not least, we have Winter.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Four Seasons, Painted Seasons, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!

Because I’m on the farm and things revolve around the barn, especially during the winter season, I thought that the Pinewood Planks embossing would be a great backdrop to my non-traditional Christmas card. It reminds me of the barn, the warmth of home. Keeping that in mind, I used Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Whisper White as my color palette.

In my FREE video tutorial, I’ll show you how I’ve created this Four Seasons card set, all the products I used and some tips and tricks along the way.  I hope you give it a try.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Bases: All bases are 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″; Spring – Grapefruit Grove, Summer – Lemon Lime Twist, Autumn – Poppy Parade, and Winter – Early Espresso.
  • Mats: All base mats are 4″ x 5 1/4″. Spring – Call Me Clover, Summer, Autumn and Winter – Whisper White.
  • Embossed Mats: All embossed mats are 3 3/4″ x 5″. Spring – Whisper White embossed with Country Floral, Summer – Petal Pink embossed with Quilt Top, Autumn – Grapefruit Grove embossed with Climbing Vine, Winter – Crumb Cake embossed with Pinewood Planks.
  • Banners – Painted Seasons DSP – All banners are 2″ x 4 1/4″, punched with the Banner Triple Punch.
  • Focal Mat – All base focal mats are 3 1/3″ x 2″. Spring – Grapefruit Grove, Summer – Lemon Lime Twist, Autumn – Poppy Parade, Winter – Early Espresso.
  • Embossed Focal Mat – All embossed focal mats are 3 1/4″ x 1 3/4″. Spring, Summer and Autumn – Whisper White, Winter – Crumb Cake. Emboss each with the same folder as the coordinating embossed mats above.
  • Stamped Images – Whisper White CS – start off with a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″, stamp all the images as shown in my video. Scrap of Pool Party for the small sprigs on the Summer Card.
  • Linen Tread – Double loop bows on the Winter and Autumn cards.

You can find all the supplies I’ve used in my Four Seasons card series in my online store. I would very much appreciate your business.

So Hoppy Together Encouragement Card

So Hoppy Together Encouragement Card

Welcome! Are you ready to smile? One of the cutest items in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration offering is the So Hoppy Together set. The set has a mix of cute little frogs and sentiments. But wait, beginning March 1, 2019 you can order the Hop Around Framelits to cut out all the sweet images.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-Bration

My granddaughter will be the recipient of this sweet little card. That is one strong young lady and she can do anything she sets her mind to. She’s about to embark on two sports and finish up her 7th grade year at school.  I just want her to know, in a playful kind of way, that I know she can do anything.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-Bration

First off, this is a fancy fold, but oh so easy to construct. Because I wanted the little frog on the lily to be center stage, I decided to cut away the front flap of the card to reveal the swirly background inside the card.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-Bration

This fold is quick and easy, but still packs the WOW factor. What says “woodsy” more than a leaf background and a burlap ribbon studded embellishment? It’s all in the details.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Together, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-Bration

Isn’t he just stinkin’ adorable? I used the Stampin’ Blends to color both the frog and the bug. Did you know we sell those in a duo pack, both in a light and dark tone? I’ld love to show you how to put this card together so you can make someone’s day. Here’s my FREE video tutorial.

Now wasn’t that fun? Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Mossy Meadow CS – One @ 5 1/2″ x slightly less than 4 1/4″ and One @ 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Inside Mat – Whisper White CS – 5 1/4″ x 4″, emboss the top edge with the Swirls and Curls embossing folder.  Fresh Fig CS – 1/4″ x 6″
  • Front Mat – Pear Pizzazz CS – 4″ x 3″
  • DSP Mat – Floral Romance DSP – 3 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
  • Scallop Oval – Fresh Fig CS – 4 1/4″ x 3″, cut with the layering oval framelit
  • Oval – Pool Party CS – 4 1/4″ x 3″, cut with the layering oval framelit, embossed with the Seaside embossing folder
  • Lily Pad and Reed – Pear Pizzazz CS – 3 1/4″ x 2 1/2″, cut the lily pad with the die from Hop Along Framelits, cut one reed with the die from Under the Sea Framelits.
  • Reeds – Mossy Meadow CS – 4 1/4″ x 1″, cut two reeds with the die from Under the Sea Framelits.
  • Lotus Flower – Fresh Fig CS – 1″ x 1″, cut with the die from Hop Along Framelits
  • Stamped Images – Whisper White CS – 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″. Stamp the frog, crown and bug in Memento Tuxedo Black, die cut with the matching dies from Hop Along Framelits. Stamp the sentiment in Fresh Fig and fussy cut the image.
  • Burlap Ribbon – 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – 2″

All Adorned Vintage Card

All Adorned Vintage Card

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. In today’s project I’ld love to share with you how quick and easy it to use the All Adorned set with our fabulous Stamparatus. The All Adorned set is a Level 1 Sale-a-Bration item. What does that mean? Well, you can earn it for FREE, of course!!!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, All Adorned, Stampin' Up!

Knowing that I wanted the focal image to have a larger stage, I decided to make this card a 6″ x 6″ format.  And believe it or not, the design process started with the color combo, Pear Pizzazz, Petal Pink, Soft Suede and Whisper White.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, All Adorned, Stampin' Up!

Stamping the focal image was very quick and easy using our Stamparatus. The All Adorned set includes a beautiful corner stamp. You just load the stamp in one corner of the 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Petal Pink, stamp, turn, stamp turn and so on until all four corners have that lovely image.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, All Adorned, Stampin' Up!

The All Adorned set also includes some lovely medallion images. In the focal image, that I’ve stamped on a die cut from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits set, I stamped the larger medallion in Pear Pizzazz and the other in Petal Pink. They nest together perfectly. Again, the Stamparatus to the rescue!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, All Adorned, Stampin' Up!

All that fabulous embossing in the background was done with the Lace Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. And those sweet butterflies were created with the Butterfly Gala set.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, All Adorned, Stampin' Up!

I can’t believe how quick and easy this card came together. I’ll bet you would like to see the Stamparatus in action.  Well, here you go! I’ve filmed a FREE video tutorial so you can see just how wonderful our stamp positioning tool really is. I’ve even got a tip for using our Classic Label punch to customize the size of your sentiment.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Whisper White CS – 12″ x 6″, scored at 6″
  • Mat – Soft Suede CS – 5 ¾” x 5 ¾”
  • Mat – Pear Pizzazz CS – 5 ½” x 5 ½”, run through the Big Shot with the Lace Embossing Folder
