Halloween Candy Cone

Halloween Candy Cone

Booing is a Halloween tradition of surprising neighbors with treats during the month leading up to the holiday. Families sneak special treats onto neighbors’ or friends’  or kiddos’ porches after dark. I think my Halloween Candy Cone is the perfect treat for just that.

There’s lots of reasons you’ll want to create multiples of my Halloween Candy Cone. First, it’s easy. Second, it’s large enough to fill with lots of treats. Third, you can hang it on the door handle, ring the bell and BOO!

Halloween Candy Cone, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

My plan? Hang a couple of these on my grandkids door, ring the bell and hide. When they open the door, let them know they have been BOOED!!

Halloween Candy Cone, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To create both the ruffle and the rosette, you only need a 6″ x 12″ piece of DSP. In today’s video tutorial, I’ll show you a shortcut  to get all your scoring done at once. Sharing little tips and tricks with you makes me happy.

Halloween Candy Cone, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Don’t let the rosette scare you. I’ve got some tips on creating that as well. Be sure to have a silicone craft sheet and hot glue gun and you’ll be set. Here’s how my Halloween Candy Cone will look on the door.

Halloween Candy Cone, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Cute right? This one is for my grandson. It’s filled with Reese’s Franken-cup treats.  We refer to my granddaughter as a chocoholic. Hard to believe that when whe she was little she hated it. Now, she’s a purist and the more milk chocolate the better.  In today’s video, I’m switching up the papers and creating one for my sweet girl.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Halloween Candy Cone – Magic in this Night DSP – 12″ x 12″
  • Handle – Basic Black CS – 1″ x 11″ and Magic in the Night DSP – 3/4″ x 12″

Spooky Festive Corners Technique Card

Spooky Festive Corners Technique Card

Trick or Treat time! Let’s create a spooky Festive Corners Halloween card. I’ll even add in a few techniques to make this one a little special.

Spooky Festive Corners, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Have you seen the new Water Painters on page 147 of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog? I LOVE THEM, especially the wide tip brush. Because I used that one, with a little Pretty Peacock ink, it was easy to create a fabulous watercolor wash background.

Spooky Festive Corners, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Another fabulous tool, you might want to add to your stash, are the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. There are four masks to a package and it’s only $6. You can create lots of different backgrounds with very little effort. I applied my color through the mask with a make-up brush. It blends like butter and you can get them just about anywhere.

Spooky Festive Corners, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Ok that’s two techniques so far. The next one is that ribbon zig-zag added behind the sentiment. The Glittered Organdy Ribbon is a returning favorite and now you can see why.  Think outside the box, it’s useful for lots of other designs. It’s not just for Halloween.

Spooky Festive Corners, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Because I cut three of the bats from the Halloween Magic die set, in the new Black Glitter Paper, they added to the design, without being too spooky.

Spooky Festive Corners, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Bringing the stenciling inside the card added to the eerie Halloween feeling. But, the color is soft enough so that you can add your handwritten Halloween joke, quote or message. Want to see these techniques in action? Here you go, another FREE video tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Cajun Craze CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Mats – Blackberry Bliss CS – two @ 4″ x 5 1/4″, emboss one with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Focal Mat – Pretty Peacock CS – 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
  • Whisper White CS – 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
  • Accent Sentiment Mat – Magic is the Night DSP – 1 1/4″ x 3 1/8″
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 1 1/4″ x 3 1/4″, cut with the die from the Stitched Rectangles die set.

Magic in this Night Halloween Card

Magic in this Night Halloween Card

There’s magic in this night, when pumpkins glow by moonlight. Time to start thinking about some Halloween projects. Earlier this week, I shared a cute treat box. Today, let’s create a card to match.

Magic in this Night, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Great gift set, if I say so myself. The star of the show, in my opinion, is the gorgeous Magic in this Night designer series paper. It’s filled with elgant watercolored designs and florals. As a result, you can create projects long before and after Halloween. It’s so versatile, you’re going to love it and want multiple packs.

Magic in this Night, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Rather than leaving the DSP as is, I decided to step it up a notch. Embossing it with the Cobweb 3D embossing folder added so much texture and interest.  It really took the design to the next level, with minimal effort.

Magic in this Night, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

And the new black glitter paper is the bomb! No glitter shedding, gotta love that. Coloring was quick and easy with a few of the Stampin’ Blends. Those are the easiest alcohol markers to work with.

Magic in this Night, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

And as always, we need to finish off the inside of the card. Using the Halloween Magic dies to cut out the bats in the Magic in this Night DSP was easy. I love it when Stampin’ Up! includes images in the paper that can be cut out using the dies.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Cajun Craze CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored @ 4 1/4″
  • Mat – Blackberry Bliss CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP Mat – Magic in this Night DSP – 3 3/4″ x 5″, embossed with the Cobweb 3D embossing folder.
  • Glitter Label – Black Glitter Paper – 3″ x 4 3/4″, cut with the die from the Halloween Magic set.
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″, stamped in Versa Mark, sprinkle with black embossing powder, heat set with the heat tool. Stamp the sentiment in Cajun Craze, cut with the die from the Halloween Magic set. Color the image with the Stampin’ Blends.
  • Inside Mat – Whisper White CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″, stamp the sentiment in Cajun Craze. Die cut the bats from the Magic in this Night DSP.
  • Inside Mat Trim – Blackberry Bliss CS – 4 1/2″ x 1 1/4″, cut with the die from the Halloween Magic set.
  • Small Bats – Basic Black CS – 2 1/4″ x 1 1/2″, cut with the die from the Halloween Magic set. Highlight with the Wink of Stella.
  • Ribbon – Metallic Mesh – 6″
  • Iridescent Pearls – 3
