Wedding Card with Beach Theme

Wedding Card with Beach Theme

What a fabulous idea, a beach themed wedding card with the Friends are like Seashells bundle. My WOW Team Member, June Hay, designed this beautiful card for our monthly Team Challenge. She also highlighted a great technique using Stampin’ Blends and Window Sheets.

Wedding Card with Friends are like Seashells, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

At first look, I thought June had used our Vellum card stock for her sentiment. But no, I was wrong. She used a window sheet. Once you’ve applied the blends, spritz with 91% rubbing alcohol. You’ll be surprised at the lovely fluid look you’ll achieve.

Blends Technique on Window Sheet

Be sure to let your masterpiece dry throughly before adding your sentiment. For me, I knew I wanted my sentiment to have some texture. Black embossing powder to the rescue.

Wedding Card with Friends are like Seashells, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Next, I needed to tackle the sand dollar and all those fibers. It’s super easy to pull the threads from the Fine Art Ribbon. And that’s just what I did.

Wedding Card with Friends are like Seashells, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The backdrop for the card is of courses an embossed mat of Very Vanilla. By using the Seashells 3D embossing folder it added to the whole beach theme. Time to finish off the inside of the card with a little masking technique and of course a little more stamping. A wedding card just wouldn’t be complete without a congratulations!

Want to learn these techniques? I’ve got you covered in today’s FREE video tutorial. Don’t forget to thank June in the comments for such a lovely design.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Soft Suede CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored @ 5 1/2″
  • Mats – Very Vanilla CS – two @ 4″ x 5 1/4″. Emboss one with the Seashells 3D embossing folder
  • Sentiment – Window Sheet – 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″, once you have completed the Blends technique, die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly die. ** Note: In the Video I used the dark Misty Moonlight and dark Balmy Blue blends. However, the Balmy Blue blends are retired. Sorry about that. You can substitute with dark Pool Party.
  • Stamped Images – Very Vanilla CS – 2″ x 5″, stamp the sand dollar in Soft Suede and the sea grass in Balmy Blue. Die cut all images with the dies from the Seaside Seashells die set.
  • Envelope – Very Vanilla
  • Ribbon – Fine Art – one @ 8″ and one @ 6″
  • Opal Rounds – 5 medium

You’re Sweet as a Peach

You’re Sweet as a Peach

Welcome! I hope you enjoy this FREE card making class. We will be creating two fabulous cards with the Sweet as a Peach Bundle from Stampin’ Up! It’s a super cute 20-piece photopolymer stamp set with a 17-piece die set. Join me to learn how to achieve a very realistic image and an awesome fancy fold.

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Let’s start things off with a traditional fold thank you card. I love the font in this set. It’s a fun crisp script.

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Because I embossed the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper with the Bark 3D embossing folder, I was able to create lots of texture on the base layer. One of the best parts about that, the DSP is currently on sale.

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Doesn’t my peach look realistic? That’s really to achieve by using two colors of ink in the stamping process.

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

By adding a little Linen Thread and few Genial Gems it brought the design to the next level.

Ready for a fancy fold?

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

OK, this card just makes me happy. I love everything about it, the fold, the colors and of course that gorgeous designer series paper.

Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To achieve that very realistic look on the peaches, I inked up the stamp in Mango Melody first. Then with a sponge dauber, I added Calypso Coral ink. Once the image was die cut, I used a little more Mango Melody in the center with a dauber. Inking the edges in Calypso Coral eliminated the white edge on the die cut.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Sweet as a Peach – Card #1
  • Card Base – Thick Basic White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored @ 5 1/2″

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder

Welcome! So happy you joined me today. I enjoyed stamping this beautiful Artistically Inked one sheet wonder so much. It’s one of my favorite things to do.  Just stamps, ink and paper and you’re on your way to creating something beautiful.

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I am in love with how this one sheet wonder turned out. Ready for the color palette? If you would like to stamp one like this, pull the following inks, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, Pale Papaya, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party and Very Mark. Don’t you just love how well the colors compliment each other?

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

And if you follow me, you know I had to step things up in this Artistically Inked one sheet wonder. And how did I do that? I’ve used both the Plenty of Patterns Masks and the gorgeous Gilded Leafing to a little somethin’ somethin’ to the center of the large flowers. Once all the stamping was complete, it was time to create some cards.

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Because I maximized the paper and was deliberate on how I cut the mats, I was able to create four cards from the one sheet.

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

By using the Ornate Frames dies, I cut just the right size label for the two sentiments I wanted to use. The embellishments on the “thanks” cards include Champagne Rhinestones and a little Simply Elegant Trim in gold.

Artistically Inked One Sheet Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

For my little “hello” cards, I’ve frayed the ends of the Pale Papaya ribbon. It’s an easy little technique I’ll teach you in my video tutorial.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • One Sheet Wonder – Basic White CS – 8 1/2″ x 11″
  • Card Bases – Crumb Cake CS – four @ 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored @ 4 1/4″

Encircled in Friendship

Encircled in Friendship

What’s better than a fabulous card created with the Encircled in Friendship set? Well, I think it’s a 3D project created with the bundle. I’ve got both projects for you today. First up, the quick and easy, but oh so sweet gift box.

Encircled in Friendship Gift Box, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The new Scalloped Kraft Treat Boxes are sold in a package of 8. They are the perfect size to dress up with the beautiful dies in the Encircled in Friendship bundle. I know, your first question. How big is the box? It’s a very generous 3 1/2″ wide  by 2 1/2″ tall.

Encircled in Friendship Gift Box, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Because the boxes are all cut and scored for you, you’ll whip out 8 in not time flat. The lid has that sweet scalloped edge. And the entire box is decorated with gold polka dots.

Encircled in Friendship Gift Box, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I’ve stamped the sentiment and flower in Tuxedo Memento Black ink and set to coloring with my Blends. By using both the light and dark in Magenta Madness and Just Jade, it made the sentiment pop.  The finishing touch was a little bling with the Champagne Rhinestones. Let’s tone things down a bit with a white on white, very layered, sympathy/thinking of you card.

Encircled in Friendship, Sympathy Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The sentiment from the Encircled in Friendship set is the centerpiece of this card. By pulling a couple of my embossing folders and a few die sets, I was able to layer lots of texture.

Encircled in Friendship, Sympathy Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

This little lesson in monochromatic design gives you an opportunity to play with all sorts of shapes. I chose to use the butterflies from the Brilliant Wings set along with the flowers and leaves from both the Artistic and Meadow die sets.

Encircled in Friendship, Sympathy Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To really bring importance to the sentiment, I cut the detail die cut from gold foil with the die from the Fabulous Florals set.

Encircled in Friendship, Sympathy Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I hope you can see the texture created with the embossing folders. I’ve added a layer with the Parisian Flourish folder and an accent band with the Tasteful Textile folder. Hope you take some time to craft along with me.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Scalloped Kraft Treat Box

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique

Sharing is caring and one of my Team Members, June Hay shared her gorgeous Pansy Slimline with our Team. I fell in love with the alcohol ink technique and asked June to teach me how she achieved the look. Lucky me, she did just that and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Creating handmade flowers is one of my favorite things to do. The Pansy Patch bundle makes that so easy.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

This pansy slimline features not only those beautiful pansies, but the gorgeous new In-Colors as well. By the way, did you know that the Pansy dies, cut and emboss at the same time? That makes creating super fast and so much fun.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Ready to learn how to create the alcohol ink technique. Nothing could be easier! Start out with vellum card stock, your ink pad of choice and the same color Stampin’ Blend. Roll color onto your vellum with a blending brush. Then you’ll want to scribble a little of the same color onto your vellum with the blend.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Spritz the vellum with rubbing alcohol to get the color to move. You must use at least 91% alcohol. If you can find 100%. that’s even better.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Notice how you can achieve that watercolor wash look on the vellum panels. It’s the perfect backdrop for those colorful pansies. Your heat tool, on the drying setting, is helpful when moving the color. To finish things off add your sentiments and a little DSP accent band.

Pansy Slimline with Alcohol Ink Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Take a moment to watch my FREE video tutorial and you’ll be mastering this technique in no time flat.

Here’s how the magic happens.
