Theater Style Fancy Fold

Theater Style Fancy Fold

Do you enjoy creating unique cards? Well, today I’ve got a fancy fold I think you will enjoy. It’s the theater style fancy fold. It’s like opening a curtain to a scene. This time, our scene is all about Christmas.

Theater Style Fancy Fold, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

WOW! It’s pretty easy to create beautiful cards when you have gorgeous papers to work with. The Feels Like Frost DSP stack is a returning favorite in our Aug-Dec Mini Catalog. There is beautiful photograpic imagery on one side and hand-drawn designs with silver foil on the other. It was the perfect choice for my theater style fancy fold. Here’s the card with the “curtains closed”.

Because I’ve created little finger pull notches on either side of the frame, the receipient has a cue. Pull the exposed edges of the next layer and voila, you have your theater style fancy fold in all it’s glory.

Theater Style Fancy Fold, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Traditional style Christmas images form the Wishes & Wonder bundle really enhance the scene. Coloring was made easy with Stampin’ Blends. Alcohol markers are a fabulous coloring medium because you can create shadows and blending without streaks.

Theater Style Fancy Fold, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

There’s even an area on the back of the theater style fancy fold to create a mat for a sentiment and handwritten message. Someone will be displaying this one on the mantle this year. But wait, there’s more. You can create another card using the “negative” from the rectangle frame.

Wishes & Wonder, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I couldn’t waste that beautiful scene, so I’ve used it in a second card. Gotta love that, right? Sit back and relax and I’ll share with you how easy the theater style fancy fold comes together.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Smoky Slate CS – four pieces 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Tip – just cut your 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of card stock in half and then in half once again. On he 5 1/2″ side, score two of the pieces @ 1 3/8″ and 2 3/4″. These will become your sliders.
  • DSP Mats – Feels Like Frost DSP – one @ 4″ x 5 1/4″, this will become your frame. Two @ 2 1/2″ x 4″ and two @ 1 1/8″ x 4″, these will decorate your sliders. One @ 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″, this one will become your inside panel to set your scene.
  • Slider Loops – Smoky Slate CS – two @ 8 1/2″ x 1/2″.
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, stamp the sentiment in Versa Mark, sprinkle with silver embossing powder, heat set with the heat tool. Dovetail both ends of the banner.

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set

Let’s make today Ridiculously Awesome! I’ve got four fabulous card designs I can’t wait to share with you. My card designs include a little heat embossing, a watercolor wash, paper piecing and so much more. So, sit back relax and enjoy.

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

What came to your mind when you saw the collection? I’m hoping you had thoughts like, fun, happy, and inspirational. Let’s take a quick look at each one. Because I needed a card to send to my beautiful daughter, I created the first of my Ridiculously Awesome set.

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Jennifer is starting a new teaching position in the middle of a global pandemic. Additionally, kids are both in person and virtual. Talk about a huge task at hand. It was important that she knew I was thinking about her and I have no doubt she’s got this!! The Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper is fun, colorful and full of happiness. Including that in the deisgn was a no-brainer. Another way to add some importance to the sentiment was by adding that sweet ribbon zig-zag.

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

This card makes me smile so much. I remember singing that “you are my sunshine” song to kids when they were little. By adding in a wash of Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie, I think it enhanced the look of rays of sunshine. What do you think? One of the best features of the Ridiculously Awesome set is that you can combine it with lots of others in your stash. In the next card, I’ve used the His Love set.

I’ve got a couple friends that could use this message in their life right about now. I’m excited to put a few in the mail this week. As a result, I hope to put some smiles on a few faces. What do you think of the soothing color palette of Balmy Blue, Whisper White and Night of Navy? Next up, is a fabulous card designed by my WOW Team Member, Lisa Lepine.

Ridiculously Awesome Card Set, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

That gorgeous Artistry Blooms DSP did most of the work. But, I’m also lovin’ the little cutting technique Lisa incorporated. Not only did Lisa created this stinkin’ cute card, but a whole set as well.

Ridiculously Awesome Cards, Lisa Lepine

Each month, I host a Team Challenge on our Team Facebook Page. All those that participate enter the drawing. We pick a winning ticket and that card is highlighted here on my blog and YouTube Channel. Speaking of which, I’ve filmed a tutorial that includes all the Ridiculously Awesome cards in today’s post.

Futhermore, as a little thank you to all my followers and subscribers, I’ve prepared a FREE PDF for all the cards in today’s video. Just click the link below to download, save or print.  Enjoy!!!

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique

Need a quick and easy Christmas card? Do you love techniques? Place the Woodland Embossing Folder on your next order and create along with me.  You’ll love this easy technique that packs the WOW factor!!

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

I’ve got even more good news. Coming soon, September 1st to be exact, my customers can order the brand spankin’ new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Watch this short Stampin’ Up! video that highlights the machine’s features.

Mark you calendar to be one of the first to order yours. Purchase it, from my online store, on the 1st of September and I’ll throw in an embossing folder of your choice for FREE!! Just a litle thank you from me.

So what sets our machine apart from the rest?

Here are some of our favorite features:

  • Durable machine with high-quality results. The solid steel construction frame and rubber feet that securely grip the work surface produce crisp, clean, precise cutting and beautifully detailed embossing.
  • Easy to use. The machine and tools are designed for an intuitive die-cutting and embossing experience. For example, all plates are labeled with a number and are color coded for easy reference and use when building your sandwich. And just like the name suggests, our Magnetic Cutting Plates have fully-magnetic surfaces to make it easy to securely position your dies and keep them in place.
  • Simple to store. The platforms on both machines fold for space-saving storage and they look pretty too–the sleek, clean design suits any crafting space.
  • Portable. You can use both machines at home or on the go with their folding platforms and ergonomic carrying handles. This makes it easy to showcase the product line in your classes and workshops! It’s also convenient for your customers who like to attend crops or other crafting get togethers.

Ok, back to today’s project. I am excited to share the Woodland Embossing Folder technique with you.

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

By simply inking the Woodland Embossing Folder with your ink pad, you are able to lay down some background color. Next we are going to do some stampin’ on the folder. Yep, that’s right, right on the surface of the folder. That will give the illusion of the large pine trees in the background.

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Finally, just insert your cardstock in the folder and run it through the Cut and Emboss Machine. Voila, you’ve just created your first Woodland Embossing Folder Technique.

Woodland Embossing Folder Technique, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To finish things off, I’ve added a few adhesive backed snowflakes and a bit of the Snowflake Splendor Ribbon.  Lots of sparkle and interest with very little effort.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Whisper White CS – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Mat – Shaded Spruce CS – 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Embossed Mat – Whisper White CS – 3 3/4″ x 5″, ink the Woodland Embossing Folder with the Balmy Blue ink pad. Stamp the pine tree from the Winter Woods set in Shaded Spruce. Insert the paper in the folder and run through the die cutting machine.
  • Label – Balmy Blue CS – 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, cut with the die from the Tasteful Labels die set.
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CCS – 2″ x 3 1/2″, cut with the die form the Tasteful Labels die set. Stamp the sentiment from the Still Scenes set in Shaded Spruce.

Mason Jar of Daisies Happy Card

Mason Jar of Daisies Happy Card

Hi and Welcome! Are you smiling? I hope my Mason Jar of Daisies brings you some joy today. Daisies are perhaps the most cheerful plant on the planet. The meaning of daisies is related to their cheerful appearance. They are flowers that symbolize positivity.

Jar of Daisies, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

A friend of mine needed a pick-me-up this week. So, I broke out my punches and created this sweet mason jar of daisies happy card.

Jar of Daisies, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Here’s a little trivia for you. The daisy flower actually contains two flowers: the petals and the cluster of disc petals are two separate flowers. Daisy flowers also symbolize a new beginning, with fresh hopes, as they close their petals at dawn and open them once again when the sun shines. This card just makes me happy.

Jar of Daisies, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

First of all, I wanted the card to be simple to reproduce. I’m teaching a class of 12 and wanted everyone to be successful and happy. Stampin’ Up! punches to the rescue. I’ve combined the Medium Daisy and Small Bloom to create the sweet mason jar of daisies.  By adding a little of the greenery from the Forever Flourishing die set, my arrangement was complete.

Jar of Daisies, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Finally, adding the cute mason jar shaker dome, I was able to cut some stems to give a realistic feel to my mason jar of daisies. Another great touch was to add a watercolor wash in the background. It gives the appearance of water in the jar.

Jar of Daisies, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

While I used Christmas paper, you’ld never know it. The Toile Tidings DSP is a returning fave from last year’s holiday catalog. The plaid pattern was perfect for this card. I would love to share my free video tutorial with you. Hope you decide to create one of these very happy cards.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Thick Very Vanilla CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored @ 5 1/2″
  • Mats – Garden Green CS – two @ 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP Mat – Toile Tidings DSP – 3 3/4″ x 5″, punch the bottom center wih the Jar Punch.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card

Welcome Everyone! So excited to share another Christmas card with you today. Even if you don’t live in a area where snow is plentiful, I think you’ll love creating cards with the new Snowflake Wishes Bundle from Stampin’ Up! If you’ve been following me, you know I live right outside New Orleans, LA. And yes, we very rarely have a snowfall.  But, for some reason, I’m drawn to everything snowflakes.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Enjoy the splendor of hand-painted imagery in a rich, cool color palette. Get swept away with a flurry of creative projects designed to inspire you. Be sure to check out the Snowflake Spendor Suite. I think you’re going to love it.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

To showcase the beautiful large snowflake, I’ve created today’s Snowflake Wishes easel card.  In the suite, you’ll find gorgeous Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. Because I used a mat to back my snowflake, everything is nice and sparkly.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

While there were lots of snowflakes in the DSP, I wanted to step it up a notch. Rather than leave the DSP flat, I decided it needed some texture. Embossing it with the new Winter Snow embossing folder did the trick.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

Really? How much prettier could you possibly get? Be sure to pop up your die cut to really appreciate the gorgeous glimmer underneath. Then, break out a pack of Metallic Pearls to add even more interest.

Snowflake Wishes Easel Card, Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Stampin' Up!

The sentiments in the Snowflake Wishes set are lovely. I’ve used two of them to compliment each other in this easel card design.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Card Base – Balmy Blue CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored @ 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.
  • Easel – Balmy Blue CS – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
