Candy Cane Season Gift Card Holder

Candy Cane Season Gift Card Holder

If you’re like me, you need some quick and easy gift card holders.  The Candy Cane Season bundle makes this holiday task a breeze.  I’ve also converted our sweet pillow boxes to hold the gift card.  So you don’t have to worry about scoring or constructing boxes, it’s all done for you.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

I just LOVE punch bundles.  The Candy Cane Season bundle includes a 14 piece, 2-step , photopolymer stamp set with the coordinating Candy Cane Builder punch.  The punch actually punches not only the candy cane, but the sweet little bow.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

One of the things that makes this project so quick and easy is the use of our Pillow Boxes.  There are 10 to a package, pre-made and scored.  They are a sweet polka dot craft, oh so versatile.  They can be used with so many different styles of designer series paper, break out that stash of pretty paper, and create a few.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

I’ve converted the pillow box into a sweet gift card holder just by adding some simple scoring and stamping on Whisper White cardstock.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

If you’re not the “gift card” type, but like to give cash instead, no worries, that will work as well. Also, since the insert pulls out of the box, the recipient could keep the pillow box to use as a candy treat holder later. That’s a great two-for.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

Christmas Display Frame

Christmas Display Frame

Need some Christmas decor for your office, mantle, or a gift for a friend?  I’ve got the perfect project for you, my Christmas Display Frame. Nothing says Christmas quite like snowflakes and a lot of glimmer!  Even in southeast Louisiana, we love our snowflakes.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

My Christmas Display Frame started out with a simple black frame from the Dollar Tree!  Can you believe it.  Yes, it was a black plastic frame that I have transformed into this beautiful copper patina frame.  Our Bright Copper Shimmer Paint is FANTABULOUS!!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Be sure to pick up those Snowflake Thinlits before November 30, 2018.  After that you’ll be sad, because they will be discontinued. I used those thinlits to cut that lovely spray of snowflakes and the assortment of smaller copper snowflakes.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Up! makes things so easy, because all the products are so easy to coordinate.  The colors in the paper, inks and embellishments are all the same hue.  No running off to the store to “try to find” a match.  All that hard work has been done.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Did you notice that sweet snowflake droplet technique.  You’ll want to learn how to create this.  Why not take a moment to watch my FREE video tutorial. I’ll guide you step by step, so you can create a Christmas Display Frame of your very own.

See, I told you it was easy.  Start making that list of all the family and friends you’ll want to create this one for.  You will certainly WOW them with your creation.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

You’ll want to be sure to pick up those Delicate Lace Thinlits.  That’s what I used to get that lovely lace detail. And that gorgeous Tranquil Tide Ribbon, you might even want to pick up two rolls so you can add it to your Christmas tags as well.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Focal – Whisper White CS – 4 3/4″ x 6 1/8″ – Use a sponge brayer with Balmy Blue ink to crate the color background.  See my technique in the video to learn how to crate your snowfall droplets.
  • Lace Trim – Shimmery White CS – 6″ x 1 7/8″, cut with the die from Delicate Lace Thinlits
  • Accent Band on Lace Trim – Balmy Blue CS – 1/2″ x 5 3/4″, round the corners and then run through the Big Shot with the Subtle embossing folder.
  • Merry Christmas and smaller Snowflakes – Copper Foil Paper – 2″ x 8″, back the foil paper with a strip of the multipurpose adhesive sheet before cutting with the die from the Merry Christmas Thinlits. Cut the Snowflakes with the die assortment from the Snowfall Thinlits.
  • Stamped Images – Whisper White CS – 2 1/2″ x 11″ – stamp the two deers from Dashing Deer in Soft Suede, cut with the dies from Detailed Deer. Stamp the trees from Rooted in Nature in Shaded Spruce and die cut with the dies from Nature’s Roots.
  • Flourishes – Sparkle Glimmer Paper – 2 3/4″ x 6″ – cut the large flourish from Snowfall Thinlits, two small flourishes from Detailed Deer Thinlits, and two sprigs from Snowfall Thinlits.

Signs of Santa North Pole

Signs of Santa North Pole

I can’t wait for my club night this week.  One of my lovely club members asked for a Christmas project.  She is a fabulous scrapbooker and I knew right away I would use the Signs of Santa bundle.  I created a page that she can use as a title page to her grandsons Christmas scrapbook.

Santa’s Workshop Specialty DSP works perfectly with the Signs of Santa bundle.  There are multiple dies in the set that die cut the images in the DSP.  Quick, easy and oh so cute!!

By adding some of our embossing paste to the die cut letters, I think I created what appears to be accumulating snow. I love the look.  Embossing the letters with the Softly Falling embossing folder enhanced that look even more.  But, wait, I couldn’t stop.  After embossing, I spritzed the letters with my Champagne Shimmer Paint concoction. All three techniques together created the perfect title for my Signs of Santa page.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Signs of Santa, Stampin' Up!

Aren’t those elves just darlin’? And yes, I used the dies to cut the DSP.  You get two elf dies, one right and one left, so you can cut all the little elves your heart desires. And did I mention the white parts on the paper are flocked. So, that means instant dimension, texture and interest.  I even cut the sign post with a die from the set.  Can’t get any easier than that.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Signs of Santa, Stampin' Up!

Next it was time for Santa to make an appearance and yes, he was cut with a die. But, alas, I did fussy cut the bag of toys.  It’s a little concession to pay for such a stinkin cute look.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Signs of Santa, Stampin' Up!

And it’s not Christmas unless Mrs. Claus is there to help her man.  This page really came together quick and easy.  Want to create one of your own?  Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Large Mat – Whisper White CS – 12 x 12
  • Mat – Poppy Parade CS – one at 8 1/2″ x 11″ and one 11″ x 2 1/2″
  • Mats – Garden Green CS – one @ 6 3/4″ x 5 3/4″, one @ 7 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ and one @ 10″ x 2 1/4″
  • Mats – Whisper White CS – one @ 6 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, one @ 7″ x 2 1/2″ and one @ 9 3/4″ x 2″
  • Letters – Garden Green CS – 4 1/4″ x 8″
  • Bottom Accent Band – Santa’s Workshop DSP – 12″ x 2 3/4″
  • Snowflakes – Whisper White CS – 2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Characters from the DSP – three red and three green clothed elves, one snowman, one Santa with the list, one sack of toys, one Mrs. Clause, one rocking horse and one stack of presents with teddy bear.

Instructions:

  • Cut the letters with the large letter dies from the Garden Green CS.  Run through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  Spritz with a spritzer filled with 4 drops of Champsgne Shimmer Paint and 70% rubbing alcohol.  Let dry or speed up with a heat tool. Apply embossing paste with a palette knife.  Set aside to dry.
  • Fussy cut the snowman, sack of toys, rocking horse and stack of toys.
  • Die cut Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the sign post.
  • Stamp the sign post in Early Espresso with the stamp from Signs of Santa.
  • On the 2 1/2″ x 7″ whisper white mat, stamp the snowflakes in Gray Granite with the stamp from Candy Cane Season
  • Apply wink of stella to the snowman and his hat. Adhere two small black Faceted Dots for the buttons.
  • Apply wink of stella on Santa’s beard and mustache.
  • Wet glue all the white mats to the green mats.
  • Wet glue the two poppy parade mats to the 12 x 12 Whisper White mat.  Cover the seam of these two mats with the long strip of DSP. Adhere with wet glue.
  • Pop all the mats to the page.
  • Apply adhesive strips to the letters and pop to the mat.  Pop the Snowman.
  • Pop the elves to the stamped mat.  Pop the sign post.
  • Pop all the characters to the bottom mat. **note – The rocking horse is double popped.
  • Pop the snowflakes to the top of the page.

I sure hope you enjoyed this one.  I loved designing it.  If you need any supplies to create a page of your own, I would love to earn your business.  Just click on any of the products below to start filling your shopping cart. Be sure to earn your WOW Customer Loyalty Points with your order.

Christmas Community Service Project

Christmas Community Service Project

Time to spoil our friends at the Riverbend Nursing Home.  This year’s Community Service Project is going to be fabulous.  I have gathered a very talented group of volunteers who will be helping me with this project.  We will be creating 146 ornaments this Saturday, along with Christmas cards and gift boxes for each of the residents at the Home.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Community Service Project, Detailed Baubles Ornament

Every year I can’t wait for the Holiday catalog to debut.  The first thing I look for is a bundle that I can use for our Community Service Project.  This year, I was lucky enough to win the Detailed Baubles set during a prize patrol on the Stampin’ Up! Alaskan Cruise.  That did it for me, it was so beautiful. I knew I could design an ornament that would make a fabulous show on their tree.

To start things off I selected my color palette, Call Me Clover, Real Red, Whisper White and Gold.  To give the leaves a little more texture and depth, I inked them in Call Me Clover.  Then I stamped them in Call Me Clover with the flourish stamp from Timeless Textures.  To give the leaves a little more sense of movement, I twisted each petal with my tweezers.  I love that look.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Community Service Project, Detailed Baubles Ornament

I just have to share a cute story from my WOW Club Ladies.  They all love the new Sprig Punch.  And after punching almost 600 images for this project, they have nicknamed the punch, spriggy!  I think that is so stinkin’ cute.  My Club Members, as well as some of my WOW Team Members are some of my volunteers for this project. I appreciate each and every hour they dedicate to this Community Service Project. We punched two gold and two red sprigs for each ornament, along with four leaf sets from the leaf punch.  I thought that combination made a lovely focal image at the top of the ornament.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Community Service Project, Detailed Baubles Ornament

To be sure the detailed red ornament would spin in the center of the ring, we had to cut two of each element. But, before we cut those detailed ornaments, we made sure to back the card stock with our multipurpose adhesive sheets.  In that way, we wouldn’t have to worry about getting glue all over that beautiful gold foil paper. Now we had stickers!

Would you like to create one of these lovely ornaments for your tree this year?  I’ld love to teach you how to do just that.  Here’s my FREE video tutorial, early Merry Christmas!

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Rings – Call Me Clover CS – 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, cut with the die from Detailed Baubles
  • Detailed Ornament – Real Red CS – 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″, back with multipurpose adhesive sheets and cut with the two with the die from Detailed Baubles.
  • Sprigs – Gold Foil Sheet and Real Red CS – punch two each from each paper with sprig punch
  • Leaves – Call Me Clover CS – punch four with leaf punch
  • Circles – Gold Foil Sheet – punch two with the 2 1/4″ circle punch
  • 1/8″ Real Red Ribbon – 8″
  • Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon – 10″
  • Rhinestones – four large and 3 small

Halloween Sampler Toil & Trouble

Halloween Sampler Toil & Trouble

Sadly, my Halloween Sampler will be the last of my 2018 Halloween projects.  It’s time to move on to Fall and Christmas.  Where in the world is 2018 going?  One of my wonderful club members asked that I design a Halloween Sampler using the Cauldron Bubbles bundle.  I jumped at that opportunity because the bundle is just so cute and easy to work with.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

And this year we have a second Halloween bundle, Spooky Sweets.  That bundle includes our Spooky Bats punch.

The color combination for our Halloween Sampler is Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Whisper White and Basic Black.  Lots of those colors can be found in the Toil and Trouble DSP.  That’s one of the cutest Halloween paper lines we’ve had.  Lots of the images coordinate with the dies, making creating a piece like this super quick and easy.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

Instead of stamping and coloring the witch and the cat, I just cut it from the DSP with the coordinating dies.  I just love all the texture in the piece.  And that was created with our fabulous collection of embossing folders.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

Have you used our new Copper Shimmer Paint? If not, I’ve got a great technique that was used on all the large Gorgeous Grape elements.  I created my own custom Copper Shimmer mist.  I hope you can see the color and shine on those pieces.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

The pumpkins too, came from the DSP.  I just drew a little jack-o-lantern face on one of the pumpkins with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  Did you know that this is one of the markers that is sold separately?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

I know bats aren’t really cute, but I have to say these make me smile.  I stamped them in Memento Black and punched them out with the Spooky Bats punch.  I’ve got a tip for you in my video tutorial that will help line up that stamp and punch every time, quick and easy.

Halloween Treats

Halloween Treats

Trick or Treat time is just around the corner.  Today, I would like to share with you two super quick and easy Halloween Treats.  Any little ghoul or goblin will be thrilled to receive either one of these.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

First up, did you know we now have those super cute Baker’s boxes in the Holiday Catalog?  WOW, and they every super easy to put together.  They already have the acetate window and all the scoreline you’ll need.  And they are food safe.  That is the perfect box for your Halloween Treats, whether they are cookies, candies or donuts.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

To create the spider web doily, for this Halloween Treat, I cut four of the spider webs with the die from the Cauldron set.  Be sure to back your cardstock with our multipurpose adhesive sheets before die cutting.  In that way, you will be creating a sticker that will be very easy to attach to the acetate.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I used our gorgeous Swirls and Curls embossing folder on the Gorgeous Grape mats that cover each side of my Halloween Treat.  Our Pearlized Doilies are mat white on one side and very easy to color with any of our inks.  On this one I used Granny Apple Green and voila, a Halloween doily.  I think this Halloween Treat would be perfect for a teacher, your nail technician, hairdresser or postman.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I thought while I was designing that I would also design a Halloween Treat perfect for all the kiddos to bring to their classmates.  Or, if you have a neighborhood block party, these would make you look like super Halloween crafter!  But, they are so quick and easy, you’ll whip them out in no time at all.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I used the Toil and Trouble DSP to dress up the front of the treat holder.  The cut little detail on the top edge of the Halloween Treat holder was created with our Tag Topper Punch. And did you notice that Spider Trinket on the bow?  Yes, we sell those.  Would you like to see how easy these are to create.  I would love to share my FREE video tutorial with you.
