Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Valentine Treats, Stampin' Up!

First, visit your local Dollar Tree. There are sooooo many cute candies you can dress up and make fancy. The cute little jar and M&M Holder were Dollar Tree finds.  The cello bag is a Stampin’ Up! product and they are food safe. Because we sell those in packs of 25, it makes gift giving economical.

OMG, this one is so quick and easy and takes minimal supplies.  I used the Labels to Love stamp set for my sentiment. I stamped on Whisper White cardstock, then punched with he 1 3/4″ circle punch. To add a little bit of fancy, I punched a starburst from our gorgeous Vellum cardstock.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Valentine Treats, Stampin' Up!

That gorgeous ribbon is our Lovely Lipstick stitched ribbon. It ties so pretty and is super soft. You can add any little tag, but this one is a die cut from our Bouquet Bunch dies.

The super beautiful Lovely Lipstick foil paper makes this treat extra special. The treat bag is our 3″ x 6″ gusseted bag. And the foil paper was cut to 3″ x 3 1/2″ and run through the Big Shot with the Tufted Embossing Folder. If you would like to see me create any or all of these Valentine Treats, visit my Facebook WOW NOLA Creations page.  I went LIVE, Sunday, January 13, 2019 and created each of these during the broadcast.

Last, but not least, is the cute little M&M Holder.  You guys have seen these for every occasion under the sun. But, they aren’t very attractive on their own.  Add a little ink, stamps and paper and you have a super cute Valentine Treat sure to WOW anyone!

Need some supplies to create these. Here is a list of everything I used for all three.  I would appreciate you shopping my online store.

So Hoppy Valentine Treat

So Hoppy Valentine Treat

I’m always on the lookout for cute Valentine treats. Well, when I was browsing the Dollar Tree, I came across the cutest little chocolate frog. Immediately, I thought about the So Hoppy Together stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration brochure. That little critter would make a stinkin’ cute So Hoppy Valentine Treat!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Valentine Treat, Stampin' Up!

OMG, isn’t this the cutest thing EVER?  I featured this project on my last Facebook Live. Be sure to join me on Sunday evenings at 7pm (CST) where I share what I love. Everyone that tuned in, asked if I would create a blog post for my So Hoppy Valentine Treat. So, here you go.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Valentine Treat, Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Up! is so on trend. There are little frog related items in every store around. Finding my chocolate treat was the first step, then I had to add all the “pretties” to make him special. I needed a frame for this little guy and our new Rectangle Stitched Framelits came in handy. Did you notice the heart he is holding? It reads “Toadilly Yours”.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Valentine Treat, Stampin' Up!

Because I stamped the frog in Memento Tuxedo Black I was able to use our light and dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends to give him some color. It’s really quick and easy coloring.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Valentine Treat, Stampin' Up!

The Happy Valentine’s sentiment from the Meant to Be set, fit perfectly in the heart. That die cut comes from the Be Mine Stitched Hearts. And all those fabulous leaves were die cut with the Tropical  Thinlits set in Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, So Hoppy Valentine Treat, Stampin' Up!

Then on the backside of my So Hoppy Valentine Treat I added a tag. I just couldn’t discard the stitched rectangle that came from cutting the window in my frame for the front of the treat holder. You want to create one now, don’t you? Mine are going to my grandchildren. Who’s going to get yours? How about a FREE video tutorial with step by step directions? Here you go!

Here’s how the magic happens.

Christmas Keepsake Ornament 2018

Christmas Keepsake Ornament 2018

My Annual Christmas Keepsake Ornament is one of my favorite projects of the year.  I love thinking about it, letting the ideas spin in my head. This year when I saw the Santa’s Workshop Designer Series Paper I knew that the Christmas Keepsake Ornament would contain some of those little characters.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Keepsake Ornament, Stampin' Up!

I love the way the cute little elf is peeking out wishing us all a Happy Christmas. Snow globes are so Christmas, and I think the ornament depicts that.  Finding the ornaments was a little challenge.  I bought one at the Dollar Tree and waited too long to get the ones I needed for my sold out class. Ouch!!! Thank goodness I found a replacement at Factory Direct Craft.  If you’re on the hunt for one, it’s item #30006631.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Keepsake Ornament, Stampin' Up!

Lovely as a Tree is the oldest stamp set we currently have in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. That’s the one I used to stamp the tree. It was the perfect size and shape to fill in behind Santa and his Sleigh.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Keepsake Ornament, Stampin' Up!

The sweet little snowflakes are from the November Snowflake Showcase promotion. And sadly that promo is over.  But, if you want to create this one, you can substitute any snowflakes you have in your stash.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Keepsake Ornament, Stampin' Up!

Our silver metallic edge ribbon looks lovely sitting atop Santa’s snowy scene.  I promised I would give everyone the measurements of my bow maker.  That little tool makes creating bows a breeze.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Susan's Bow Maker

Here are the measurements for this handy little tool,

  • 2 1/4″ wide and 3 1/2″ tall – cut a piece of heavy chipboard
  • Cover the chip board, front and back with your choice of designer series paper
  • Each post is 3/4″ wide and 1″ deep.
  • The vacant space between the posts is 3/4″ wide
  • Once you’ve cut the posts, you can put a couple of coats of decoupage on the front and back. This will help keep the DSP in tack and the ribbon to slide off the posts a little easier.

Would you like to see this little tool in action.  And not only that, get a FREE tutorial on the Christmas Keepsake Ornament.  Merry Christmas, here you go.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Santa’s Workshop DSP – One Santa in a Sleigh and one Elf carrying a gift
  • Snowflakes – Silver Foil
  • Springs – Silver Foil – punch four using the Sprig Punch
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Braces – Thick Whisper White CS – 1″ x 3″ score on the 1″ side at 1/2″, cut four braces for the characters
  • Base inside bottom of ornament – Whisper White CS – punch one 2″ circle
  • Ribbon – Silver Metallic Edge – 1 yard

Candy Cane Candy Bar Wrap

Candy Cane Candy Bar Wrap

Today’s project will insure that you have lots of hostess treats on hand, all during the holidays. The Candy Cane Season bundle includes a super cute photopolymer stamp set and coordinating punch. Nothing says easy like a punch.  It makes creating multiples a breeze.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Candy Bar Wrap, Stampin' Up!

I found the candy bars at my local Dollar General.  They were $1 and what a value.  The sweet little gingerbread man was crying out to be dressed up.  Doesn’t it look like he’s holding that sweet little candy cane?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Candy Bar Wrap, Stampin' Up!

By using my layering oval dies, I cut a window in my All is Bright DSP so our little guy could shine through.  Nothing went to waste, while cutting out my pieces parts.  I used the extra bits to create the tag on the back of the candy bar.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Candy Bar Wrap, Stampin' Up!

Most importantly, stamping and punching the candy cane and bow is super simple.  Just grab a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, Cherry Cobbler and Tuxedo Memento Black inks and you’re ready to go.  I’ld love to share my FREE video tutorial.  Remember to visit my YouTube Channel to subscribe.  Hit the little “bell” to be notified of all my future videos.

Candy Cane Season Gift Card Holder

Candy Cane Season Gift Card Holder

If you’re like me, you need some quick and easy gift card holders.  The Candy Cane Season bundle makes this holiday task a breeze.  I’ve also converted our sweet pillow boxes to hold the gift card.  So you don’t have to worry about scoring or constructing boxes, it’s all done for you.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

I just LOVE punch bundles.  The Candy Cane Season bundle includes a 14 piece, 2-step , photopolymer stamp set with the coordinating Candy Cane Builder punch.  The punch actually punches not only the candy cane, but the sweet little bow.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

One of the things that makes this project so quick and easy is the use of our Pillow Boxes.  There are 10 to a package, pre-made and scored.  They are a sweet polka dot craft, oh so versatile.  They can be used with so many different styles of designer series paper, break out that stash of pretty paper, and create a few.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

I’ve converted the pillow box into a sweet gift card holder just by adding some simple scoring and stamping on Whisper White cardstock.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Candy Cane Season, Stampin' Up!

If you’re not the “gift card” type, but like to give cash instead, no worries, that will work as well. Also, since the insert pulls out of the box, the recipient could keep the pillow box to use as a candy treat holder later. That’s a great two-for.

Christmas Display Frame

Christmas Display Frame

Need some Christmas decor for your office, mantle, or a gift for a friend?  I’ve got the perfect project for you, my Christmas Display Frame. Nothing says Christmas quite like snowflakes and a lot of glimmer!  Even in southeast Louisiana, we love our snowflakes.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

My Christmas Display Frame started out with a simple black frame from the Dollar Tree!  Can you believe it.  Yes, it was a black plastic frame that I have transformed into this beautiful copper patina frame.  Our Bright Copper Shimmer Paint is FANTABULOUS!!

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Be sure to pick up those Snowflake Thinlits before November 30, 2018.  After that you’ll be sad, because they will be discontinued. I used those thinlits to cut that lovely spray of snowflakes and the assortment of smaller copper snowflakes.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Up! makes things so easy, because all the products are so easy to coordinate.  The colors in the paper, inks and embellishments are all the same hue.  No running off to the store to “try to find” a match.  All that hard work has been done.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Christmas Display Frame, Stampin' Up!

Did you notice that sweet snowflake droplet technique.  You’ll want to learn how to create this.  Why not take a moment to watch my FREE video tutorial. I’ll guide you step by step, so you can create a Christmas Display Frame of your very own.

See, I told you it was easy.  Start making that list of all the family and friends you’ll want to create this one for.  You will certainly WOW them with your creation.

You’ll want to be sure to pick up those Delicate Lace Thinlits.  That’s what I used to get that lovely lace detail. And that gorgeous Tranquil Tide Ribbon, you might even want to pick up two rolls so you can add it to your Christmas tags as well.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Focal – Whisper White CS – 4 3/4″ x 6 1/8″ – Use a sponge brayer with Balmy Blue ink to crate the color background.  See my technique in the video to learn how to crate your snowfall droplets.
  • Lace Trim – Shimmery White CS – 6″ x 1 7/8″, cut with the die from Delicate Lace Thinlits
  • Accent Band on Lace Trim – Balmy Blue CS – 1/2″ x 5 3/4″, round the corners and then run through the Big Shot with the Subtle embossing folder.
  • Merry Christmas and smaller Snowflakes – Copper Foil Paper – 2″ x 8″, back the foil paper with a strip of the multipurpose adhesive sheet before cutting with the die from the Merry Christmas Thinlits. Cut the Snowflakes with the die assortment from the Snowfall Thinlits.
  • Stamped Images – Whisper White CS – 2 1/2″ x 11″ – stamp the two deers from Dashing Deer in Soft Suede, cut with the dies from Detailed Deer. Stamp the trees from Rooted in Nature in Shaded Spruce and die cut with the dies from Nature’s Roots.
  • Flourishes – Sparkle Glimmer Paper – 2 3/4″ x 6″ – cut the large flourish from Snowfall Thinlits, two small flourishes from Detailed Deer Thinlits, and two sprigs from Snowfall Thinlits.
