Halloween Sampler Toil & Trouble

Halloween Sampler Toil & Trouble

Sadly, my Halloween Sampler will be the last of my 2018 Halloween projects.  It’s time to move on to Fall and Christmas.  Where in the world is 2018 going?  One of my wonderful club members asked that I design a Halloween Sampler using the Cauldron Bubbles bundle.  I jumped at that opportunity because the bundle is just so cute and easy to work with.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

And this year we have a second Halloween bundle, Spooky Sweets.  That bundle includes our Spooky Bats punch.

The color combination for our Halloween Sampler is Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Whisper White and Basic Black.  Lots of those colors can be found in the Toil and Trouble DSP.  That’s one of the cutest Halloween paper lines we’ve had.  Lots of the images coordinate with the dies, making creating a piece like this super quick and easy.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

Instead of stamping and coloring the witch and the cat, I just cut it from the DSP with the coordinating dies.  I just love all the texture in the piece.  And that was created with our fabulous collection of embossing folders.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

Have you used our new Copper Shimmer Paint? If not, I’ve got a great technique that was used on all the large Gorgeous Grape elements.  I created my own custom Copper Shimmer mist.  I hope you can see the color and shine on those pieces.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

The pumpkins too, came from the DSP.  I just drew a little jack-o-lantern face on one of the pumpkins with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  Did you know that this is one of the markers that is sold separately?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Sampler, Toil & Trouble, Stampin' Up!

I know bats aren’t really cute, but I have to say these make me smile.  I stamped them in Memento Black and punched them out with the Spooky Bats punch.  I’ve got a tip for you in my video tutorial that will help line up that stamp and punch every time, quick and easy.

Halloween Treats

Halloween Treats

Trick or Treat time is just around the corner.  Today, I would like to share with you two super quick and easy Halloween Treats.  Any little ghoul or goblin will be thrilled to receive either one of these.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

First up, did you know we now have those super cute Baker’s boxes in the Holiday Catalog?  WOW, and they every super easy to put together.  They already have the acetate window and all the scoreline you’ll need.  And they are food safe.  That is the perfect box for your Halloween Treats, whether they are cookies, candies or donuts.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

To create the spider web doily, for this Halloween Treat, I cut four of the spider webs with the die from the Cauldron set.  Be sure to back your cardstock with our multipurpose adhesive sheets before die cutting.  In that way, you will be creating a sticker that will be very easy to attach to the acetate.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I used our gorgeous Swirls and Curls embossing folder on the Gorgeous Grape mats that cover each side of my Halloween Treat.  Our Pearlized Doilies are mat white on one side and very easy to color with any of our inks.  On this one I used Granny Apple Green and voila, a Halloween doily.  I think this Halloween Treat would be perfect for a teacher, your nail technician, hairdresser or postman.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I thought while I was designing that I would also design a Halloween Treat perfect for all the kiddos to bring to their classmates.  Or, if you have a neighborhood block party, these would make you look like super Halloween crafter!  But, they are so quick and easy, you’ll whip them out in no time at all.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Treats, Stampin' Up!

I used the Toil and Trouble DSP to dress up the front of the treat holder.  The cut little detail on the top edge of the Halloween Treat holder was created with our Tag Topper Punch. And did you notice that Spider Trinket on the bow?  Yes, we sell those.  Would you like to see how easy these are to create.  I would love to share my FREE video tutorial with you.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Spooky Sweets Candy Jars, Stampin' Up!

I found the candy jars and candy at my local Dollar Tree.  Do you see a pattern here?  I think I need a 12-step program.  I’m addicted to Dollar Tree.  Can’t help it. There are so many items you can alter and create super cute gifts for the upcoming Halloween and holiday season. Everything is just too BOO-ti-ful to pass up.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Spooky Sweets Candy Jars, Stampin' Up!

Because ghouls just want to have fun, you will want to put the Spooky Sweets bundle on your next order. Creating multiples is so much easier with a punch.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Halloween Spooky Sweets Candy Jars, Stampin' Up!

Seasonal Layers Fall Holiday Gift

Seasonal Layers Fall Holiday Gift

I’m always on the hunt for quick and easy gift giving ideas.  Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I knew I wanted to use our Seasonal Layers framelits.  I love the leaves in that set. And what says Fall better than rich colored leaves?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Seasonal Layers Holiday Gift

Lucky me, I found these cute mugs at my local Dollar Tree.  As soon as I saw the leaf design, I knew they would compliment the leaves in our Seasonal Layers set.  And to make matters even better, I scooped up some of the Fall Taffy. I think that’s a match made in Fall heaven.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Seasonal Layers Holiday Gift

It was easy to pull the perfect color combo for my Seasonal Layers holiday mug. Stampin’ Up!’s color palette is so versatile and trendy. I found the perfect color match, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Garden Green. I wanted the tag to be over the top pretty, so Tin Tile Dynamic Textures Embossing Folder to the rescue.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Seasonal Layers Holiday Gift

Be sure to lightly spritz your paper with water before running it through the Big Shot with this folder.  It really makes the embossing pop.  I cut a scallop circle with our Layering Circles Framelit and then highlighted the raised areas with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Next, my Seasonal Layers leaves; one each in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Garden Green created the perfect focal image.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Seasonal Layers Holiday Gift

Did you notice the polka dot tulle is tinted in Pumpkin Pie?  That’s an easy technique I can teach you now to do in my FREE video tutorial.

Are you making your gift list?  Who are the lucky ones that will receive one of these?  I know you just can’t wait to create some of your own.

Here’s how the magic happens.

Service Project Time

Service Project Time

I’m not sure we should really refer to this event as a service project because it’s more of a pleasure.  Vising our local nursing home, Riverbend, is something we all look forward to.  We get to spend time with twenty of the most lovely, sweet people I’ve had the privilege of getting to know.  I’m always reminded of a quote about service that really touches my heart.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Service Project, Riverbend Nursing Home

We visit the nursing home on a quarterly basis to create a project with our friends.  To make it even better, I group of dedicated volunteers join me to make this day very special.  This time, I designed a sweet little framed piece they can place on their bedside table.  Hopefully it will remind them that we are thinking of them and that they are near to our hearts.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Service Project

I started this project by visiting my local Dollar Tree to get some inspiration. I needed to prepare 20 kits and design a project that isn’t too challenging for our friends at the Nursing Home.  I noticed the 5 1/2″ x 7″ frames and my creative wheels started to turn.  I remembered the sweet sentiment in the Hold on to Hope stamp set and thought I could design a bedside frame featuring that sentiment.  I knew the beautiful stitched frame from the Stitched Labels set would make a great focal image.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Service Project

The background for each of the frames will be a little different because I used the the beautiful papers in the Garden Impressions DSP stack.  This helped to bring some color to the project.  Then I knew I wanted to accentuate the focal image.  The beautiful large flourish from the Flourish Thinlets set was perfect. That is one of my all time favorite sets and I use it all the time.  I also cut the frame accent piece using the same set.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Service Project

To make it a little easier for our friends to adhere those intricate pieces, I backed the cardstock with our Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  That way, it’s just like a sticker.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Service Project

Everyone there loves flowers and little bling.  So, I broke out my new Four-Petal Flower Punch and my Leaf Punch to start creating flowers from the Garden Impressions DSP.  The leaves, punched from Shaded Spruce CS, needed some texture, so running them through the Big Shot with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder did the trick.  The flower center was cut from the die from the Springtime Impressions set.  And of course, I had to add some “diamonds” as the ladies at the home call it.

Would you like to create these with some friends at your local nursing home?  I sure hope so.  Just in case, here is an easy how-to video to help you out.  If you decide to do this, I would love to hear about your visit.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Inside Frame – Night of Navy CS – 7″ x 5″, cut the center out using the cardboard template that comes inside the purchased frame.
  • DSP – Garden Impressions – 6″ x 4 1/4″
  • Sentiment – Whisper White CS – 3 3/4″ x 3 1/4″, cut with the die from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy Ink.  I did use my Stamparatus to do this step, since we had to prep 20 kits.
  • Fourish – Blushing Bride CS – 4 3/4″ x 3″, back the cardstock with the multipurpose adhesive sheets, cut with the die from the Flourish Thinlits set.
  • Heart – Blushing Bride CS – use a scrap – cut the small stitched heart from the die in the Stitched Labels Framelits set.
  • Frame Accent – Melon Mambo CS – 5 1/4″ x 1″, back the cardstock with the multipurpose adhesive sheets, cut with the die from the Flourish Thinlits set.
  • Flowers – Garden Impressions DSP – punch four images with the Four-Petal Flower Punch.
  • Leaves -Shaded Spruce CS – punch four images with the Leaf Punch and run them through the Big Shot with the Petal Burst embossing folder.
  • Flower Centers – Blushing Bride CS – use scraps to cut two of the small flower images with the die from the Springtime Impressions set.

If you need some supplies to complete this project, I would appreciate you visiting and shopping my online store.

Birthday Gift Bag

Birthday Gift Bag

Who doesn’t need birthday wrapping supplies?  And with all the beautiful papers we have to choose from, decorating your own birthday gift bag is a snap.  Just pick up some plain white bags at your local Dollar Tree, break out that Broadway Bound Specialty DSP and create along with me.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Birthday Gift Bag, Stampin' Up!

Oh my gosh, won’t your family and friends be impressed when you show up to the party with your gift all decked out in this bag?  I sure think so.  The inspiration for this one came from our beautiful Broadway Bound Specialty DSP.  That paper is perfect for everything birthday; gift bags, scrapbook pages, cards, treats and the list goes on and on.  My hostess, Joan, requested a birthday gift bag featuring the color combo, Lovely Lipstick, Basic Black and Lemon Lime Twist.  Did I deliver?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Birthday Gift Bag, Stampin' Up!

And what could be better than creating your own bow and tag to match the bag?  After I teach you how to do this quick and easy bow, you’ll never have to buy another one.  What could be easier than to cut out that Happy Birthday title using our Happy Birthday Thinlit Die and adhering to a piece of Whisper White CS.  This one was embossed with the Oh My Stars Embossing Folder.  Cute, right?

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Birthday Gift Bag, Stampin' Up!

Stampin’ Up! truly makes it easy with all the coordinating products.  I created my own background paper using a sheet of Lovely Lipstick CS, Lovely Lipstick ink and the Swirly Frames stamp set.  Remember, you can always use stamps in a new and different way.

Susan Levasseur, WOW NOLA Creations, Birthday Gift Bag, Stampin' Up!

The cute little birthday horns were created with the Picture Perfect Birthday set.  That one is a must-have.  So many elements you can use to dress up any project.  I did create the party hat template myself. But guys, it’s a triangle, that’s it.  The base of the hat is 2 3/4″ and the height is 4 3/4″. After cutting it and adhering a small strip of Lemon Lime Twist CS to the bottom, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder.

Let me show you how quick and easy it is to create this sweet birthday bag.

Here’s how the magic happens.

  • Large Mat – Basic Black CS 7″ x 9″
  • Stamped Mat – Lovely Lipstick CS 6 3/4″ x 8 3/4″
  • Title – Basic Black CS 2″ x 6 1/4″; Whisper White CS  6″ x 1 3/4″ run through the Big Shot with the Oh My Stars Embossing Folder; Lemon Lime Twist CS 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″, back with multipurpose adhesive sheets and cut the image with the Happy Birthday Thinlits die.
  • Focal Image – Lemon Lime Twist CS 4″ x 5″; Broadway Bound DSP 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ and Whisper White CS, cut two at 1″ x 6″, then cut the image with the die from Seasonal Layers.
  • Party Hat – Lovely Lipstick CS 3″ x 4 3/4″ – create a template from scrap CS, the base is 2 3/4″ and the height is 4 3/4″.  Trace the template onto the Lovely Lipstick CS and trim out. Lemon Lime Twist CS 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.  Adhere the strip to the hat, trim as needed.  Run the hat through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder.
  • Sentiment on Hat – Basic Black CS 2 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ and Whisper White CS 2 1/2 x 1 3/4″, stamp the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday in Lovely Lipstick and cut both pieces with the Layering Ovals die.
  • Party Horns – Whisper White CS – 2″ x 5 1/2″.  Using the stamps from Picture Perfect Birthday stamps as follows: two striped bases, one in Lovely Lipstick and one in Lemon Lime Twist. One polka dot base in Lemon Lime Twist.  Two fringes in Lovely Lipstick and one Lemon Lime Twist. Two horns in Lemon Lime Twist and one Lovely Lipstick. Fussy cut all images and construct the horns.
  • Tag – Lemon Lime Twist CS 2″ x 4″, punch one end with the Tag Topper Punch. Lovely Lipstick CS 1 3/4″ x 3 1/4″, Broadway Bound DSP 1 1/2″ x 3″.
  • Tag Sentiment – Basic Black CS 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ and Whisper White CS 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″, stamp the sentiment from Cake Soiree in Lovely Lipstick.  Cut out both images with the Layering Ovals dies.
